About Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. By the time Alex passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement and the largest independent childhood cancer charity in the U.S. ALSF is a leader in funding pediatric cancer research projects across the globe, raising more than $300 million so far, funding over 1,500 research projects, and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer. The Special Events Intern will assist the team in various support roles throughout the year by gaining an understanding of the Special Events Team structure, while maintaining a positive and team-player mentality. The ideal candidate will bring forth a creative and innovative mindset to assist in enhancing ALSF’s current events. They will support the planning, production, and execution of high-quality events in collaboration with team members, partners, and external staff. (see Special events calendar on our website). All internships will work a hybrid schedule (3-days) from our office in Bala Cynwyd and remote (2-days). This schedule may require more frequent office days during event weeks including travel to events. Candidates must be located in the Philadelphia area during the program. Duties • Support the ALSF Special Events Team with various support tasks • Assist in the preevent planning process for the events • Research creative ways to promote and market events • Build various outreach lists to solicit potential participants • Brainstorm unique fundraising ideas for existing events • Perform a variety of projects and daytoday tasks, including mailings, projects, and filing • Assist with cleanup of online files, organization and logging • Engage and help at various ALSF Special Events • Participate in weekly team meetings, as well as oneonone checkins with the intern manager • Gain an understanding of team roles within events • Fulfill the mission of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation by raising awareness through its special events Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities • Microsoft Office skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint / Microsoft File Explorer • Ability to conduct themselves in a fastpaced, professional environment • An energetic team player with the ability to function independently, as well as in a collaborative environment • Ability to meet deadlines for various projects • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem solving abilities and attention to detail • Be creative, imaginative and innovative • Receptive to feedback and project edits • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Required Competencies and Skills • Pursuit of bachelor’s degree in related field; candidates entering junior or senior year preferred • Demonstrated ability to use analytical skills and manage detailed tasks • Related experience/internships a plus • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines • Passionate about the mission of the Foundation • Ability to be flexible and positive in a fastpaced environment • Strong team player, selfmotivator, quick learner, and problem solver • Strong work ethic with willingness to go above and beyond to reach goals • Ability to work from home or from the office based on task The successful candidate will thrive in ALSF’s fast-paced, team-oriented environment and will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to help kids fighting cancer by aiding the Foundation’s growth.
