Our client is a rapidly growing, asset-backed transportation and leasing platform who are seeking its first in-house General Counsel to serve as the senior legal leader during a pivotal growth phase. Highly visible, business-facing position acting as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. You’ll lead legal matters across corporate governance, M&A, commercial contracting, transportation and leasing arrangements, regulatory compliance, employment, credit and collections, insurance, and enterprise risk management. • Location: Kearny NJ or Chicago, IL Responsibilities • Lead all legal aspects of M&A, integrations, and strategic transactions • Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial, leasing, financing, and partnership agreements • Advise on corporate governance, structure, and strategic initiatives • Design and oversee regulatory and compliance programs across a multi-state footprint • Advise on employment matters, credit, collections, and asset recovery • Manage insurance, risk mitigation, IP, and outside counsel relationships • Act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership and help build the future in-house legal team Requirements • JD with active bar membership (NY, NJ, or IL preferred) • 10+ years of experience, ideally with strong Big Law training • Significant experience in M&A and complex commercial transactions • Background in transportation, leasing, infrastructure, or asset-heavy industries strongly preferred • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
