Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Director of Prevention Services to lead our community-focused initiatives aimed at promoting health, safety, and well-being. In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive prevention programs that serve diverse populations, including individuals with addictions and those facing health challenges. Your leadership will drive innovative strategies rooted in public health principles, motivational interviewing techniques, and evidence-based practices to foster healthier communities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing program operations, and advocating for preventive care at the organizational and community levels. Additionally, leading and directing a prevention department by researching, planning, coordinating and evaluating prevention and early intervention services that meet assessed community needs. Responsible for procuring and administering grants. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education or other Human Services field, Master’s Degree preferred along with a Certified Prevention Specialist Certification, two (2) years’ experience in education/prevention/early intervention services, and three-five (3-5) years’ experience managing a prevention department Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, and evaluation of prevention programs focused on health promotion, addiction counseling, nutrition, and wellness initiatives. • Supervise and mentor prevention staff and outreach coordinators to ensure high-quality service delivery. • Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and stakeholders to expand program reach and effectiveness. • Utilize data collection methods to monitor program outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and report findings to leadership. • Conduct public speaking engagements and community presentations to raise awareness about prevention strategies and available resources. • Implement motivational interviewing techniques during client interactions to enhance engagement and promote behavioral change. Experience • Proven experience in social work, public health or related fields with a strong understanding of working with individuals with addictions. • Directs, designs, implements and evaluates prevention education and intervention services. • Serves as consultant to agency employees, school personnel, students, parents and business representatives concerning health, prevention trends and innovation along with community resources. Serves as liaison between agency, local community and state. • Develops budgets and monitors/approves budget expenditures for prevention program. Develops grant proposals. Manages contracts with outside agencies. • Supervises prevention staff including staff development, monitoring work, conducting quality reviews, staff participation in ADS safety program, Responsible for hires, promotes, transfers and terminations in the prevention unit in coordination with the HR Director. • Demonstrated expertise in teaching or training diverse audiences on health-related topics such as addiction counseling, nutrition, or public health initiatives. • Familiarity with data collection tools and methods used for program evaluation and reporting purposes. • Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently to varied audiences. • Experience applying motivational interviewing techniques within behavioral health or community outreach settings is highly desirable. • Completes required reports, provides input into policies and procedures, serves as member of the Leadership Council, and performs other duties as required.
