Senior Front-End Engineer, Aira ASL App Mobile-first. Fully remote. Contract to start. About Aira Aira's mission is to remove visual barriers and make the world more accessible through on-demand visual interpreting. We believe access is a human right. The Aira ASL App extends that access to Deaf and hard of hearing users. We're a fully remote team, and always will be, united by that mission. About the role You'll be the first engineer dedicated to the Aira ASL App: a senior front-end engineer who owns the mobile experience end to end. You'll inherit an existing codebase and modernize it, build real-time video that holds up in the real world, and make accessibility the default rather than the retrofit. You'll work independently at first, with the mandate to help shape and grow the team as it finds its footing. What you'll do Own the front end of the Aira ASL App, mobile first Modernize and maintain an existing production codebase Build and harden real-time video: latency, reconnects, call state Make every component accessible by default Partner closely with our ASL community and design team Help define what the team needs next, and help us hire for it Required qualifications Fluent in ASL, or Deaf or hard of hearing Senior front-end engineer who has shipped and maintained production mobile apps Hands-on experience with real-time video in production Comfortable owning an existing codebase and working independently Uses AI coding agents as a normal part of your workflow Builds accessibly by default Preferred qualifications Flutter Web front-end alongside mobile Consent, privacy or PII-handling flows Experience building products for Deaf and hard of hearing users What we offer 100% remote.
