Summary This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. . Duties Help As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: • Serves as the primary command focal point and technical expert for managing the Defense Travel Regulation, Part IV, Personal Property. Serves as a senior advisor for DoD personal property movement and business practices related to all types of personal property transportation. • Researches and analyzes transportation policy, doctrine, public laws, rules, and other regulatory documents for purposes of developing or recommending new DoD policy and procedures related to personal property. • Develops position papers reflecting the Command's policy/position on high visibility transportation/logistics issues. • Serves as an administrator for the Defense Transportation Regulation. • Represents USTRANSCOM on transportation-related interagency boards, committees, and meetings to discuss, formulate and/or coordinate operations, programs, policy and procedures. Requirements Help Conditions of employment • Must be a U.S. citizen • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service • Resume and supporting documents (See How To Apply) • Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period • Work Schedule: Full Time • Overtime: Occasionally • Tour of Duty: Flexible • Recruitment Incentives: May be Authorized • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Exempt • Financial Disclosure: Not Required • Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible at Agency and Supervisor discretion • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Non-Critical Sensitive (SECRET) security clearance • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606 Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: • Research and analyze transportation policy documents for the purpose of interpreting or developing procedures, incorporating transportation management and logistics operations to drive efficient effective use of Defense Transportation System (DTS) and its capabilities. • Resolving broad, complex, or sensitive transportation and traffic management problems. • Analyzes and evaluates legislative/regulatory proposals for potential impact on transportation/logistics programs, recommending revisions, and preparing implementing guidance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
