Job Summary and Responsibilities This job is responsible for providing human resources services to the assigned hospital or business unit(s). This position supports VMFH HR policies and practices, and provides advice, interpretation and counsel to leaders, managers and staff of the assigned work unit regarding human resources policies and procedures in areas such as employee relations, performance management, grievance resolution, reasonable accommodation and where applicable, labor relations administration for assigned hospital in accordance with VMFH goals and initiatives. Responsibilities Include: HR Service Delivery: • Provides effective consultation to stakeholders on employee relations issues; reviews, investigates, advises and ensures appropriate actions are taken with respect to employee corrective actions, and concerns relating to violation of federal and state laws, policies, procedures and workforce reductions. • Participates, as an active member of the HR management team, in providing HR-related guidance to support business planning and delivery on key goals. • Assists managers in developing a positive work culture that reflects the values and ethics of the organization. • Serves as an advocate on behalf of all employees; solicits and listens to employee concerns and takes an active role in resolving problems; provides information, or facilitates employees’ ability to obtain information about benefits, compensation, employee education/training and other employee-related programs and services. • Works collaboratively with HR teams, Administration, Finance, Payroll, VMFH Centers of Excellence and VMFH Service Center to assist in resolving employment issues. Change Management: • Supports implementation of change management initiatives and ensures objectives are met that drive overall performance, improve business outcomes and align with strategic objectives. Compliance: • Applies a thorough understanding of key federal, state and local legal and regulatory requirements in order to protect the organization; provides effective direction, advice and interpretation to management; challenges non-existent practices; monitors regulatory changes to ensure that the organization is current in compliance practices; makes recommendations for changes and improvements to HR policies and programs as needed. If assigned to Union facility: • Effectively manages the collective bargaining agreements and works to maintain positive and productive relationships between management, staff and labor unions; may participate in, and/or provide support for, labor negotiations, grievance processes, labor-management committees and other labor-related activities. If assigned to Non-Union facility: • Educates and trains leaders/management in union avoidance and cultivate and maintain a positive workplace. Job Requirements • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other discipline to the duties of the position. • Four years of related experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
