Job Description Agilent is a customer-centric organization with our Groups organized around the end markets we serve: • Life sciences and Diagnostics Markets Group (LDG) focuses on Agilent’s Pharma, Biopharma, Clinical and Diagnostics markets, providing solutions for life science research, patient diagnostics and testing for safety. • Applied Markets Group (AMG) focuses on growing Agilent’s leadership in Applied markets like Food, Chemicals & Materials, Semiconductor, and Energy. • Agilent CrossLab Group (ACG) supports customers across all Agilent end markets, enhancing the instruments with targeted workflows and applications through services, software and informatics, automation, and consumables. AVP Of Enterprise Portfolio – Position Overview The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Enterprise portfolio reports to the VP of Enterprise Strategy. The Enterprise portfolio lead manages the enterprise portfolio, understanding macro-economic trends and market drivers impacting Agilent’s businesses overall and identifying attractive adjacent and white space opportunities. The Enterprise portfolio lead will identify attractive step-outs for Agilent and work closely with Corporate Development to identify and evaluate potential targets in these market segments. The AVP is instrumental in building Agilent’s growth pipeline from market opportunity sizing to business case development and supporting leadership to make data-backed portfolio decisions. Key Responsibilities • Conduct white space and adjacency analysis to identify market entry and expansion opportunities • Stay on top of macro-economic trends and general market trends of Agilent’s core markets and inform implications for investment thesis and resource allocation • Characterize market and competitive dynamics by developing deep insight in market structure, customer needs, competitive conduct and financial performance in these markets • Evaluate market attractiveness for Agilent based on capability and capacity assessment and determine appropriate entry pathways • In collaboration with Corporate Development, screen and prioritize M&A targets • Provide market, business and competitive diligence support and assist on detailed financial models and valuations • Craft presentation materials for executives and board and assist in drafting investment memos The preferred candidate will be commutable to Agilent Headquarters in Santa Clara, CA Qualifications • A bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or technical degree related to life sciences preferred • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following functions: strategy, business development, strategic marketing, market analysis, business consulting, investment banking, or related positions with increasing levels of management responsibilities • Demonstrated track record of results utilizing interpersonal, relationship-building skills required in leading multi-cultural and geographically dispersed teams in a highly matrixed environment • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Experience in facilitating and influencing decision-making, and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels and multiple businesses • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally with exposure to M&A diligence processes, and the ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and complexity • Creative problem-solving capability with an ability to identify non-obvious opportunities and a track-record of securing broader buy-in for creative answers. • Leadership maturity, confidence, and a high degree of emotional intelligence Critical Leadership Capabilities Acting Strategically • Bring new thinking that challenges assumptions and conventional wisdom • Strong analytics in market and competitive evaluations (structure, conduct, and performance) • Act to surpass team goals, seizing opportunities to extend the limits of what is possible • Set continually higher goals for the team that are ambitious but achievable • Identify and act on new opportunities that enable performance targets to be exceeded • Seek new challenges and is energized by exceeding targets Collaborating and Influencing • Align stakeholders to adopt creative and non-obvious opportunities • Identify all necessary stakeholders and connect with them to gain support or agreement • Engage others in open dialogue and adapt own influence approach to different stakeholders in ways that address their interests or concerns • Leverage external network to identify the latest trends and farther afield opportunities • Anticipate potential conflicts among stakeholders and take steps to pre-empt them Additional Details This job has a full time weekly schedule. The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $188,480.00 - $353,400.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
