In addition to transaction-related planning and advice, the Tax Division is responsible for federal, state and local compliance and tax controversy resolution from audit through litigation. Job Description Our internship role has been developed to provide a unique opportunity to acquire fundamental knowledge of federal income tax law as it applies to corporations, partnerships and foreign entities. In addition, the individual will have an opportunity to exhibit analytical and organizational skills when involved with special projects. Working in the American Financial Group Tax Department, the intern’s primary responsibility will be utilizing tax preparation software to create corporate federal income tax returns and quarterly provisions. This will require interaction with tax department personnel as well as financial, investment and management contacts, amongst our subsidiaries, to collect data required for tax compliance. This person will interact in our SharePoint Portal environment as well as the Microsoft Office software suite to produce, modify and store supporting documents. Additional responsibilities could include state/local tax compliance, inclusion as a team member in special projects and involvement in the development and implementation of tax technology initiatives. Tax Accounting Co-Op Our internship would be a full-time summer semester role encompassing a 12-week opportunity working 40 hours per week. We follow the company’s hybrid work schedule requiring work during core hours, but allowing flexibility in the daily starting and ending times. This also allows for working from home two days per week. Responsibilities Prepares Federal Income tax returns. Prepares Federal Income tax provision calculations and coordinates with accounting team to book journal entries. Assists with state and local tax returns, extensions, and estimates. Performs other duties and completes other projects as assigned.
