Job Summary: The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the food manufacturing plant, including production, maintenance, food safety, logistics, inventory management, and employee safety. This role ensures efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF). The Plant Manager leads and develops a cross-functional team to meet production goals, quality standards, and safety objectives. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee day-to-day operations of the food manufacturing plant. • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, etc.). • Drive continuous improvement in production efficiency, yield, and operational costs. • Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands. • Establish and validate labor standards by line to optimize labor costs. • Thorough understanding of shipping and logistics planning. • Excellent inventory management knowledge and category leadership. • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. • Collaborate with QA, R&D, and procurement to optimize plant operations. • Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and plant personnel. • Monitor and analyze performance metrics (OEE, downtime, waste, etc.) and implement corrective actions. • Manage plant budgets, capital expenditures, and cost control initiatives. • Ensure proper maintenance and reliability of plant equipment and infrastructure. • Coordinate audits and inspections (internal, regulatory, and third-party). • Work with labor agencies to flex temporary labor during peak seasons. • Ensure customer orders are completed on time across multiple business channels. • Maintain relationships with local authorities to stay up to date with various municipal codes. • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Qualifications: • 7+ years' experience in food production and manufacturing, including 3+ years in a plant leadership role. • Strong background in food safety systems, GMPs, HACCP, and regulatory compliance. • Keen aptitude for root cause analysis with excellent process improvement and analytical skills • Strong leadership qualities • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Exceptional organization skills • Bilingual Spanish/English is desired Company DescriptionJoin us at Affy Tapple, the iconic Midwestern brand that introduced the first commercially produced caramel apple in 1948.
