Full Description

Job Title: Production OperatorJob Description This entry-level position involves learning and performing duties specific to a designated department, such as bending, cutoff, or production machine operations. The role focuses on advancing to higher levels within the department, such as becoming a Setup Operator. Responsibilities • Learn how to operate various types of equipment and make minor adjustments during production runs to ensure quality parts. • Read setup sheets and routing packages for individual parts, ensuring dimensional requirements are met. • Conduct quality inspections as required by written Quality Procedures. • Complete production records accurately. • Move parts to subsequent operations, track scrap or rework, and document reasons. • Participate in corrective action processes to prevent defects from recurring. • Engage in team meetings to seek continuous improvements for operations. • Operate hand pallet-jacks safely and efficiently. Essential Skills • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. • Proficiency in shop math, including fractions, decimals, and metric conversions. • Ability to read and follow specific routing and setup instructions. • Ability to read blueprints, which can be taught. • Proficiency in using measuring instruments like tape measures and dial calipers. • Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts or longer, and the capacity to bend, twist, and stoop to manage parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with tube or sheet metal fabrication is preferred. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a large, clean, and organized production environment spanning 256,000 square feet. Safety is prioritized. Shifts available are 1st (5:00am - 3:30pm) and 2nd (3:30pm - 2:00am), with the 2nd shift receiving a pay differential and initial training on the 1st shift for two months. Expect to work 50+ hours, including weekends. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.90/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
