Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description Join our team as a Machine Operator where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of adhesive machinery and paperboard processing. Your attention to detail and mechanical skills will be vital in maintaining quality and productivity in our fast-paced environment. Responsibilities • Operate and monitor glue pots with adhesive, positioning rollers to dispense glue onto paperboard. • Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and inspect cartons for flaws. • Make mechanical adjustments on machines as needed. • Coordinate with Finishing Helpers to ensure all glue lines are adequately staffed. • Verify that the Finishing area is stocked with necessary supplies and coordinate with Purchasing to maintain supply levels. • Train Finishing Helpers and Finishing Operator Assistants. • Place repair requests in Maintenance Connection. • Complete Daily Management boards, including root cause and corrective action plans. • Perform duties of a Finishing Helper when needed, such as feeding cartons into machines, ensuring ample supply of die-cut cartons, stacking cartons into cases, and clearing machine jams. Essential Skills • Experience in production and machine operation. • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules and operating instructions. • Basic arithmetic skills and the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages. • Basic mechanical aptitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. • Experience with cutting machinery similar to Sheet fed cutting equipment, such as 162 CER, 1600 ER, 103, and 126-BMA. Work Environment Our facility operates 24/7 with a workforce of approximately 170 employees. The work schedule includes 8-hour or 12-hour shifts in a non-climate controlled environment. Employees must be flexible to work any shift, including the possibility of rotating shifts after training. Safety is paramount, with steel toe boots required and personal protective equipment such as gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses provided. The department operates six days a week with opportunities for overtime. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenixville, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.68 - $21.68/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
