We have an exciting opportunity for a System Engineer EVA Tools to join the team with JETS II. • * We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. ** The System Engineer EVA Tools will: • Participate in trade studies and analyses that will influence the design and performance of the hardware used for exploration and sample curation during Lunar excursions. • Perform requirements decomposition and develop requirements documents • Develop verification and validation plans and statements • Develop interface control documents • Review and provide comments on program documentation • Coordinate with Artemis system management teams • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support • Perform other duties as required Resumes, in month and year format, must be submitted with application in order to be considered for the position. Qualifications – External Requisition Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. • Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria • Experience with the design, assembly, testing, verification, and operation of hardware • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in a hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design of software and tools • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products Requisition Preferences: • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and two (2) years of direct engineering experience. • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures • Experience with development of EVA hardware • Experience with Systems Engineering processes and techniques Why Join Our Team? Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
