Full Description

The Assistant Director of Scouting and Analytics plays a vital role in the successful execution of Prospect Select Baseball events. This position ensures that technology platforms function properly and that accurate scouting and data coverage is delivered. The role directly supports the Assistant National Director of Scouting and Technology and the Lead Scout. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Leadership, Oversight & Reporting • Direct report to the Assistant National Director of Scouting and Technology and Lead Scout. • Supervise all data collection at assigned fields. • Supervise all pre-game software updates on Scorebook, FlightScope, and related systems. • Supervise post-game syncing of FlightScope units at assigned fields. • Manage troubleshooting and operational readiness of all FlightScope units. Field & Event Operations • Manage assigned scouting areas to ensure coverage is complete and consistent. • Provide showcase and high school event coverage as assigned. Data, & Technology • Assist in capturing player data using assigned technology platforms. • Ensure seamless operation of data-collection systems across assigned fields. Scouting & Video Responsibilities • Scout players as assigned and provide clear, organized scouting notes. • Manage video capture responsibilities for assigned fields or events. • Capture in-game video for tournaments and showcases as assigned. • Manage and update the Top Performers and Data Blog as assigned. Media, Communication & Content • Manage social media postings and updates per Prospect Select Scouting protocols and standards as assigned. • Assist in writing pre-event and post-event articles to highlight teams, players, and event outcomes. • Collaborate with scouting leadership to communicate data accuracy and scouting observations. Qualifications & Skills • Strong understanding of baseball gameplay and scouting principles. • Experience with data-collection technology (FlightScope, Trackman, Rapsodo, etc.) preferred. • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting. • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues in real time. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Willingness to work weekends, long hours, and outdoor events in varying conditions. • Ability to effectively complete tasks within required time constraints. Work Environment This position requires on-site work at baseball complexes, including prolonged standing, equipment setup, video operation, and interaction with teams and coaches. Outdoor working conditions will vary based on location and weather. Prospect Select Baseball, Perfect Game, Prep Baseball Report, or others. • During a tournament, you're responsible for submitting Top Performer notes and scout posts by the end of each day. If games run long and time is tight, how do you manage your workflow to ensure everything is submitted on time? • You are assigned to scout and collect data on two fields within a quad complex. Thirty minutes before the first pitch, you learn that the scout assigned to the other two fields will not be able to attend. What is your immediate response, and what steps would you take to ensure the scouting department still meets its goals for the day? • On a scale of 1 (no ability)-10 (extremely proficient), rate your ability to use multiple social platforms (Instagram, X, etc.) • Do you have any experience collecting or analyzing data for baseball? If so, please explain what platforms you have used to collect or analyze the data. • Do you have experience using a broad set of baseball data points in order to create a player or team write-up based on advanced metrics? If so, please explain your experience.
