Description The Admissions Coordinator/Officer is responsible for managing the patient admission process in a healthcare facility, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients while maintaining compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards. This role involves coordinating with various healthcare professionals, managing patient information, and facilitating communication with patients, families, and staff. Schedule: Part-Time, Weekends, 8 Hour Shifts, Saturday & Sunday Remote Options Primary Responsibilities and Duties: • Implement the facility's marketing plan to attract new patients and promote facility services. • Keep organized records, including patient information, medical history, insurance details, and other relevant data, to ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements. • Gather information from residents, including demographic data, medical history, and preferences, to ensure personalized care and a smooth transition into the facility. • Implement administrative policies and procedures to ensure appropriate resident admission in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. • Coordinate the admission process for incoming patients, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and obtaining necessary authorizations. • Gather and maintain accurate patient information, including demographic data, medical history, and insurance details, to ensure proper documentation and billing. • Communicate with patients and their families to provide information about the admission process, facility services, and patient rights and responsibilities. • Collaborate with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to ensure the timely and appropriate placement of patients within the facility. • Monitor patient admissions and discharges, ensuring proper bed management and resource allocation to optimize patient care. • Perform all other duties assigned by the Admissions Manager or designated administrative supervisor. Requirements Job Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates with an associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field. • 1-2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility. • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and insurance requirements related to patient admissions. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records. • Proficiency in basic computer skills and electronic medical records management. • Commitment to professional development and maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in healthcare administration. Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during office work and patient interactions. • Manual dexterity and coordination for computer data entry, filing, and record management. • Visual acuity to read and interpret medical records and insurance documents. • Emotional resilience to handle potentially stressful situations and communicate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. • Clear communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
