Full Description

Job Description: • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs supporting enterprise software platforms • Develop new features while enhancing and modernizing existing applications and services • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support • Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevSecOps, Security, and Architecture teams • Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend integrations • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following secure coding and software engineering best practices • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and support operational excellence • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing • Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and engineering process improvements • Support on-call rotations and production deployments as required Requirements: • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional software engineering experience; additional experience may substitute for education • Strong backend development experience using Java and modern enterprise frameworks such as Spring Boot • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices • Experience building enterprise applications using object-oriented programming principles • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server • Experience working within Agile software development environments • Experience using Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows • Experience with automated testing, debugging, and software troubleshooting • Experience participating in code reviews and following secure software development practices • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust • Must have resided within the United States for at least three of the previous five years • Desired: experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, or similar Java frameworks • Desired: experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development • Desired: experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and containerized applications • Desired: experience with Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, Splunk, Kafka, New Relic, or similar DevSecOps tools • Desired: experience with Angular, React, or other modern front-end frameworks • Desired: experience with C#, .NET, VB.NET, C++, or legacy application modernization • Desired: experience with Tomcat, Oracle SQL Developer, or enterprise application servers • Desired: experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code • Desired: experience supporting high-availability enterprise applications in production environments • Desired: experience supporting federal government or highly regulated environments • Desired: experience with Section 508 accessibility standards and secure software development practices Benefits: • Company-subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance • Flexible PTO • 401K with employer match • Paid parental leave after one year of service • Employee Assistance Program
