Job Title: Project Safety ManagerJob Description The Project Safety Manager is responsible for establishing, documenting, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System for the project. This role ensures compliance with international standards, the GBMS, OCIP Construction Safety Manual, and local procedures. The position requires a proactive approach to implementing HSE policies and legislative requirements, developing programs to achieve HSE objectives and targets, and managing resources effectively. Responsibilities • Establish, document, implement, maintain, and continually improve the HSE Management System in compliance with international standards, GBMS, OCIP Construction Safety Manual, and local procedures. • Ensure implementation of STS activities in compliance with HSE policies, legislative requirements, customer requirements, and the HSE Management System. • Develop HSE programs to achieve planned objectives and targets. • Manage local project HSE resources and ensure effective communication, participation, and consultation. • Identify HSE training needs and implement necessary training programs. • Ensure suppliers and subcontractors operate in accordance with GBMS supplier, OCIP CSM, and contractual requirements. • Identify emergency situations and manage response procedures. • Monitor, report, and communicate HSE performance, providing recommendations and solutions for negative trends. • Report, investigate, and analyze all HSE accidents and incidents to learn from them. • Identify nonconformities and implement corrective/preventive actions. • Cooperate with the implementation of the annual HSE audit schedule and conduct HSE audits. • Inspect working areas regularly in compliance with local legislation and HSE Management System. • Participate in annual management review meetings. Essential Skills • Current OSHA 500 Card and CPR/FA certification. • OSHA 30-Hour or Cal-OSHA 30-Hour for Construction Card. • OSHA 500 Authorized Outreach Trainer Designation. • 5+ years of experience in Construction Safety and Health. • Experience in communication, presentation, and training development and delivery. • Experience leading diverse and dynamic teams. • Experience integrating into project teams and engaging stakeholders across all disciplines. • Comprehensive knowledge of Cal-OSHA, California EPA, Federal OSHA, EPA, Department of Labor, and local regulations, policies, and legislation. • Experience implementing programs and policies within ISO and certified organizations. • Demonstrated ability to inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance. • Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships. • Ability to complete written reports and electronic communications expeditiously and accurately. • Ability to manage a HSE team of 3-5 individuals. • Computer proficiency with strong knowledge of MS Office and related software applications. • Valid non-probationary California Class “C” Driver’s License. • Ability to identify and take action on safety-related issues and conduct root cause incident investigations. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience developing and implementing site safety programs. • Ability to work day and night shifts as needed. • Ability to work throughout the Bay Area. Work Environment The position is based in Oakland, CA, within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role involves integrating into project teams, engaging stakeholders, and leading a diverse team. Candidates should be comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic, and be prepared to work day and night shifts throughout the Bay Area as required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Oakland, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $109900.00 - $170000.00/yr.
