Job Title: Project Manager - Utility Construction Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Manager to lead complex utility projects from initiation through closeout. The projects involve a variety of utility work, focusing on low voltage distribution, both overhead and underground. The role requires working on-site at the DTE in Redford for three days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the other two days. Occasionally, the role may require travel to construction sites in Southeast Detroit or office visits. Responsibilities • Lead all phases of project management: planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout. • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure project execution. • Track and manage project budgets, schedules, and risks. • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders. • Prepare status reports, forecasts, and presentations for clients and leadership. • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and industry standards. • Mentor and support project team members, including coordinators and field staff. • Monitor projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely completion of all steps. • Work with cross-functional teams to balance work plan completion, resources, and new business workload. • Collaborate with Resource Planners on forecasting crew movement for successful project completion. • Serve as the single point of contact for project coordination and issue resolution. • Participate in problem-solving and lean management efforts to improve processes and gain efficiencies. Essential Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • 5+ years of project management and utility experience. • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI, and SharePoint. • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • PMP certification or equivalent preferred. • Experience in utility construction, particularly low voltage distribution. • Experience with LVD, Substation, Transmission, Nat Gas, and underground utility work.
