Full Description

• This is not a fully remote position - you must be able to commute and report to our Mount Laurel office. Semi-remote work may be available after the successful completion of a 90 day introductory period. As an Credit Specialist at Acentus, you will report directly to the Cash Applications Manager and work alongside Payment Posters and Refund Coordinators on our Payment Posting team. Our Payment Posting team also works closely with our internal AR and AR Coding teams along with a variety of external groups to ensure cohesive and efficient billing practices. The ideal Credit Specialist maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated and detail-oriented, and has excellent problem-solving skills which allow the delivery on on-time results to ensure the success of individuals and the organization. In this position, you will focus on credits and be responsible for a variety of revenue related payment posting activities requiring data research and analysis, time management, self-motivation, and teamwork. Proactive and clear written and verbal communication skills are essential as communicating with internal and external parties is a large part of this role. Credit Specialists act as a billing system super-user, perform simple to complex payment posting and credit functions, and demonstrate an understanding of all business lines as they relate to the role’s responsibilities. Daily duties of a Credit Specialist focused on credits include reviewing accounts to determine if a credit should be refunded, posted, or adjusted. You will assist with posting line-item insurance payments, patient payments, denials, and ERA edits in our billing system within 24 hours of receipt. and processing refunds to insurance companies. You will also be expected to identify and report trends and propose ways to reduce and prevent errors to ensure claim payment issues are resolved timely and efficiently. Remote Responsibilities: Responsibilities and Duties: • Resolve credits on patient accounts, find opportunities to prevent credits, and provides documented solutions to management • Review insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and post payments, contractual allowances, and denials at the line item • Balance payment batches and reconcile that all EOBs are posted accordingly • Process refunds and handle credit balances • Process refunds to insurance companies • Research missing payments and escalate unresolved issues to management • Maintain productivity levels based on industry standards; 100% accuracy expected • Provide timely, accurate, and professional responses to internal, patient, and third party inquiries • Research and resolve simple to complex issues and escalate issues to management • Maintain and submit a detailed issues log to his/her manager to identify trends • Report needed system updates to manager • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills: • High school diploma/GED required • Minimum of 3 years’ of experience in working credits or similar role • Minimum of 2 years’ of experience in professional medical payment posting or similar role • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a healthcare setting • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding • Proficient understanding of HIPAA compliance practices • Prior experience utilizing billing systems and electronic medical records (EPIC preferred) • Proficient knowledge and a working understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word • Excellent research abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities • Self-motivation, including multitasking and time management • Positive attitude and team player Benefits: Paid Time-Off, Performance Bonus, Flexible Schedule, Life Insurance, 401K, Prescription Drug Coverage, Merchandise Discounts, 401K Match, Employee Referral Program, Paid Sick Days, Parking, Flexible Spending Accounts, Medical, Dental, Vision Additional Compensation: Bonus Skills: Payment Posting, Accounts Receivable, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Electronic Medical Records, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), Healthcare, Credits About the Company: Acentus Practice Management, LLC.
