Position Title: Business Development Manager - South Eastern & Francophone Africa Location with Regional Travel: (South Eastern & Francophone Africa with Regional Travel) Department: Payout Strategy & Partnerships (Relationship & Development) Reports To: Executive Head – Business Role Summary The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving ACE Money Transfer’s remittance growth strategy. The role requires a strong background in remittance/payments, with proven experience in partner onboarding, product optimization, compliance coordination, and market expansion. The BDM will be accountable for maintaining competitive pricing, establishing strong payout partnerships, engaging regulators, and ensuring seamless payout operations in the assigned corridors. Key Responsibilities: Product Optimization & Partner Onboarding Conduct detailed market research and analysis to identify gaps and opportunities. Onboard and integrate new payout partners to strengthen ACE’s product offering. Drive new remittance model initiatives tailored to local customer needs. Ensure all contractual, KYB, compliance, and API integrations are completed within agreed timelines. Rate Competitiveness Monitor daily exchange rates and ensure ACE consistently maintains a leading position in the market. Collaborate with the rates team for real-time updates and adjustments. Marketing & Community Engagement Plan and execute diaspora-focused marketing campaigns in sending jurisdictions. Partner with at least one diaspora association/event per quarter to increase visibility and customer engagement. Coordinate with internal marketing for digital and offline campaigns targeting key corridors. Regulatory Engagement Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Central Banks and regulatory bodies in Southern Africa: (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Eswatini (Swaziland), Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola. Eastern Africa: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea.) Deal Negotiation & Networking Negotiate commercial terms with payout partners, ensuring cost optimization and maximum value creation. Manage both new and existing partner relationships, with a minimum of two deals per quarter. Weekly Partner & Product Health Check Ensure weekly coordination with Customer Experience, Compliance, and Rates teams to proactively resolve payout issues. Maintain resolution logs and implement feedback loops for continuous improvement. KPIs & Performance Metrics Partner Onboarding & Product Innovation: 100% completion of partner/product integration targets (quarterly). Rate Competitiveness: Maintain a top market position daily. Marketing: Minimum 1 diaspora campaign per quarter. Regulatory Engagement: Minimum 1 regulator touchpoint per quarter. Deal Negotiation: At least 2 partner negotiations per quarter. Operational Health Check: Weekly reporting and issue resolution. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. 5+ years of relevant experience in remittances/payments. Strong knowledge of African remittance market dynamics, payout products (cash, wallet, bank deposit, card), and regulatory environment. Proven track record in partner negotiations, contract management, and commercial deal closure. Excellent stakeholder management and networking skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
