Over 3-5 years of payroll experience, proficiency in payroll systems and Excel, knowledge of payroll laws and tax filings, and ability to handle multi-state payroll processing.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll processing for the company’s employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Payroll Processing • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, including collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data. • Process reimbursements within payroll system. • Ensure the accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, bonuses, and other compensation. • Administer deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings. • Partner with Human Resources in the processing of new hires, terminations, promotions, and other employee status changes in the payroll system. • Coordinate with the Human Resources (HR) and Finance departments to ensure seamless data integration. Compliance and Reporting • Stay up to date on all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and labor laws. • Ensure compliance with all legal and internal policies. • Prepare and file all required payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions, and other regulatory submissions. System Management • Administer and maintain the payroll system, ensuring data integrity and security. • Identify and recommend updates or enhancements to payroll processing software and procedures. • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies and system issues. • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems. Employee Support and Communication • Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries from employees. • Provide excellent customer service and resolve employee issues promptly and accurately. • Maintain confidentiality and data security for all payroll information. • Communicate with employees regarding payroll policies, changes, and updates. Technical Skills • Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., Paylocity, etc.). • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. • In-depth understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and general accounting principles. • Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and time and attendance systems. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. • 3-5 years of experience in full cycle, multi-state and multi-FEIN payroll processing. • Experience in federal, state, and local tax filings with expertise in resolving complex tax issues. • Experience with payroll accounting and its impact on financial systems. • Proficient in Paylocity or similar payroll systems • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint • Knowledge of wage withholding orders, garnishments, and levies. • Ability to analyze and resolve complex payroll issues and calculations. • Self-starter with a strong sense of accountability. • Ability to optimize processes and drive operational efficiency. • Delivers outstanding customer service and builds strong work relationships. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure. • Organized, adaptable, and deadline-driven, with the ability to maintain composure and make decisions in stressful situations. • System implementation experience preferred.
