Job Title: Employment Specialist II Position Summary The Employment Specialist II is responsible for creating, developing, and sustaining employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position encompasses all responsibilities of an Employment Specialist while also providing team leadership, mentoring new Employment Specialists/Job Developers, and enhancing employer partnerships. The primary goal is to secure meaningful, sustainable employment that promotes workplace inclusion and long-term success for participants. The Employment Specialist II also coaches the Employment Specialist/Job Developer team to achieve these outcomes. Key Responsibilities Job Development & Employer Engagement • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with local employers to expand inclusive job opportunities. • Promote the skills, abilities, and value of participants to employers, emphasizing retention and inclusion benefits. • Conduct employer outreach through cold calls, networking, presentations, and community events. • Collaborate with employers to identify and implement appropriate workplace accommodations and supports. Participant Support & Placement • Assess participants' skills, interests, and employment goals to align with available opportunities. • Coordinate job interviews, workplace tours, and job trials. • Support participants throughout the hiring process, onboarding, and transition to employment. • Monitor placements to ensure sustainability and alignment with both employer and participant needs. Leadership & Mentorship • Provide peer support, guidance, and mentorship to Job Developer staff. • Share best practices and assist with onboarding and training new team members. • Serve as a resource for problem-solving, coaching, and employer engagement strategies. • Conduct weekly in person meetings with each Job Developer individually to review and document caseloads, progress, and next steps. Collaboration & Documentation • Partner with job coaches, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), the Office of Developmental Disabilities Services (ODDS), and other stakeholders to coordinate services. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach, placements, and retention activities. • Track outcomes and contribute to achieving organizational performance goals. Qualifications • Minimum of 2 years of experience in job development, employment services, or sales/marketing (experience with IDD or related field strongly preferred). • Demonstrated success in employer engagement and participant placement. • Strong communication, negotiation, and networking skills. • Knowledge of IDD services, supported employment practices, and workplace accommodations. • Ability to mentor peers and support team growth. • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
