Learn more about Accenture's Utilities Transmission & Distribution Practice here>> https://www.accenture.com/us-en/industries/utilities/transmission-distribution Role Overview The ArcGIS Utility Network Technical Architect will serve as the senior technical authority guiding both our client team and the Accenture development teams through the definition, design, and implementation of Esri's ArcGIS Utility Network. This role is responsible for translating electric and gas utility operational requirements into a scalable, service‑oriented GIS architecture, while leading the migration from legacy, database‑centric GIS models to a modern, enterprise web‑GIS platform. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Technical Architect will oversee all functional and technical design decisions related to Utility Network configuration, data modeling, service architecture, integrations, and performance. The role ensures the Utility Network solution aligns with our clients enterprise architecture standards, operational workflows, and long‑term grid modernization objectives. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the lead ArcGIS Utility Network Technical Architect for our client implementation, providing architectural direction across planning, design, build, and deployment phases. • Define and own the target ArcGIS Utility Network architecture, including domain networks, tiers, subnetworks, services, and integration patterns for electric and gas systems. • Lead the migration strategy from legacy GIS models (e.g., Geometric Network or custom data models) to ArcGIS Utility Network, with emphasis on service‑centric, API‑driven access patterns. • Design and govern Utility Network data models, network rules, associations, and topology configurations supporting electric and gas distribution operations. • Guide functional and technical solutioning to ensure GIS capabilities support end‑to‑end utility workflows, including planning, design, construction, operations, outage response, and asset management. • Lead technical design for service‑based integrations between GIS and enterprise systems such as EAM, Work Management, OMS, and field mobility platforms. • Provide hands‑on technical leadership to GIS developers, data migration teams, and integration specialists, ensuring solution quality, scalability, security, and performance. • Identify architectural risks, performance considerations, and change management impacts associated with Utility Network adoption, and recommend mitigation strategies based on industry best practices. • Produce and maintain architecture and technical design artifacts, including solution architectures, service interaction diagrams, integration designs, and deployment models. • Lead and participate in architecture reviews, design workshops, and executive briefings with our client's business and IT stakeholders. Leadership & Client Engagement • Acts as a trusted technical advisor to our client business leaders, IT architects, and utility operations stakeholders. • Leads cross‑functional design sessions bridging business requirements and technical solutioning. • Mentors and guides delivery teams, ensuring architectural consistency and adherence to Utility Network best practices. Qualification Technical Expertise Needed • Extensive hands‑on experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS REST APIs. • Deep expertise in service‑oriented GIS architectures, with demonstrated success transitioning from database‑centric access models to service‑based, web‑GIS paradigms. • Strong understanding of Utility Network system architecture, including branch versioning, services, workload separation, and scalable deployment patterns. • Experience designing secure, scalable GIS solutions aligned with enterprise IT standards, including identity, security, performance, and availability considerations. • Familiarity integrating GIS with enterprise platforms using REST‑based services and industry‑standard integration approaches. Basic Qualifications • At least 7 years of experience in utility GIS architecture and implementation, with a focus on electric and gas utilities. • Multiple full‑lifecycle ArcGIS Utility Network (or equivalent) implementations for large, complex utility organizations. • Hybrid background spanning utility operations, GIS solution architecture, and enterprise system integration. • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience • Ability to travel for client work as needed Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
