5+ years supply chain/procurement experience with kit operations in education, knowledge of kitting/packaging, ERP systems, strong analytics, and relevant certifications preferred.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, the kit supply chain manager is responsible for ensuring that the right kit products get to the right customer at the right time. This role owns the process of materials selection and qualification to balance the needs of kit products within operational and supply chain constraints. They will manage key vendor qualifications, selection, and performance of up to $30m annual spend, with a vendor portfolio of up to 4 major suppliers. Position Responsibilities: • Review and refine the company’s kitted materials production and manufacturing strategy • Develop, review, and report on key performance metrics, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the company and its vendors meet or exceed goals • Source, support, and drive component qualification and selection with the aim to reduce costs • Maintain master materials database and printed product specifications • Create, maintain, and communicate Build of Materials lists (BoM’s) to stakeholders, with coordination from Product Management and R&D • Manage Packing and design requirements and processes with aim towards logistics simplification and cost reduction • Ensure interior, exterior, and component packaging is within DOT / IATA compliance • Own the process of Root Cause Failure analyses to modify component selection and qualification • Gather data on component health and shortages, and provide updates on resolutions • Coordinate with R&D, Product Management, and Operations in new production creation • Coordinate with Supply Chain on vendor/component health to ensure product metrics meet quality expectations • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to build quality sourcing strategies aligned with business requirements • Follow and understand component and science kit market dynamics, and adjust sourcing methods accordingly • Own the process of kit demand forecasting, logistics, and cost control • Participate in operations and supply chain strategic reviews and decisions • Support the supply chain team in vendor management and vendor performance reviews • All other duties and responsibilities as requested Position Qualifications: Experience and Abilities: • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Sourcing • Experience in leading/managing kit operations in the education industry, delivering $30m in kit spend to end-users • Knowledge of kitting & assembly; packing & packaging • Direct experience with component / raw materials sourcing • Knowledge of procurement tools and software; ERP applications like Oracle, Netsuite, SAP • Understanding of advanced data interpretation and statistical models • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to lead presentations with senior management and leadership teams • Strong knowledge of both Microsoft Office and Google Suite, able to seamlessly transition between ecosystems • Ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across multiple functions • Ability to manage changing priorities and develop contingency plans due to market or supply chain issues • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel Education: • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management or related field • MBA or supply chain graduate degree is a plus • Certifications that are a plus (any): • Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) • Supply Chain Procurement Certificate (SCPC) • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) • IATA DGR certificate, DOT HAZMAT training
