AARP’s Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP’s public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus. The Project Analyst, Executive and Internal Communications reports to the Senior Director of Communications Integration and is a key member of the Office of the Chief Public Policy Officer (CPPO). This role supports executive communications and internal communications for Policy Research and International (PRI) by coordinating complex workflows, strengthening cross-team alignment, and ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic delivery of communication materials and activities. The position requires a highly organized, proactive project analyst who can balance multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and support executive-level work in a fast-paced environment. The Project Analyst serves as a central partner across teams, helping maintain communications systems, prepare leadership for high-visibility engagements, and support consistent, high-quality internal communications across PRI. Responsibilities • Oversees the day-to-day planning and execution of events, consumer experiences, or other projects and their related communications plans. Leads the development and maintenance of all project planning, management tools, and practices including, project charters, timelines, budgets, risk assessments/mitigation plans, and communications plans. Contributes to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategy. Determines resource needs and monitors budget against projects and departments. • Organizes project teams and leads internal and external team members to deliver on project goals. Works with the team to continually optimize department workflows and standard practices. Supports training of staff on project management tools and best practices. • Provides project management, including coordinating activities of overall project, tracking progress against milestones and other performance indicators, and preparing reports. Coordinates with others, internally and externally, to ensure integration into department overall projects. Tracks, analyzes, and reports project progress to stakeholders and leadership. • Identifies and develops new procedures and processes to support the organization and project implementation. Ensures effective change management occurs throughout course of project. • Works with the team to continually optimize department workflows and standard practices. • Manages multiple events or projects simultaneously at different stages of the project lifecycle, while coordinating with other colleagues on the team to ensure integration into department overall projects. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) and 3+ years of experience in communications, project management, or a related field; experience in public policy environments preferred. • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to maintain structured systems, track deliverables, and manage multiple projects and shifting priorities. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. • Ability to coordinate or guide meetings, work effectively across teams, and manage deadlines. • Experience supporting executive communications or high‑visibility engagements is a plus. • Experience with Airtable and integrating Microsoft Copilot or other AI tools into daily workflows preferred. • Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors, interns, and internal partners. • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment.
