Role Overview: As a Remote Patient Collections Representative, you will play a crucial role in managing patient accounts by reviewing outstanding balances and effectively communicating with patients to facilitate timely payments. This position is essential in maintaining the financial health of healthcare providers while delivering compassionate and professional service. What You'll Do: - You will review open patient balances and identify accounts requiring follow-up. - You will contact patients via phone and email to discuss outstanding payments and arrange payment plans. - You will document all patient interactions accurately in the system. - You will collaborate with healthcare providers and billing departments to resolve billing discrepancies. - You will maintain compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and privacy standards. - You will provide excellent customer service, addressing patient concerns with empathy and professionalism. - You will meet or exceed monthly collection targets and performance metrics. - You will participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry best practices. What You Bring: - Minimum of 2 years experience in patient collections or medical billing. - Strong knowledge of healthcare billing processes and insurance terminology. - Excellent communication and negotiation skills. - Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and collections software. - Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management skills. - High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing is a plus. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working remotely in a healthcare setting. - Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws. - Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish. - Previous experience with payment plan negotiations and financial counseling.
