Company Our client is a private real estate investment, development, and operating family office. The Company is vertically integrated with a 30+ year history of advising and executing transactions on behalf of a variety of affiliated partnerships. Headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, the Company has a strong investment base, that has included 100+ retail locations (and many with excess land). The Company has operated in markets across the Southwest and Western regions of the country, while partnering with a leading private equity firm focused on consumer-facing businesses. The Company’s current strategy has a focus on retail, multifamily, and industrial real estate development. The Company has a proven track record, a deep understanding of real estate investing, and a commitment to generating long-term value in both residential and commercial developments Position The Development Analyst/Associate will play a key role on the development team, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the success of large-scale projects. Working closely with and supporting the development and construction teams, the Development Analyst/Associate will be immersed in the development process. This role involves conducting detailed market and competitive research and performing complex, accurate financial analyses, requiring an analytical mindset and attention to detail. While a real estate analysis or construction background is beneficial for this role, the Development Analyst will receive comprehensive training that builds on existing skills and expands capabilities. This Development Analyst/Associate will demonstrate excellent financial modeling and mathematical skills, often working with complex databases and/or quantitative tools with proficiency and accuracy for extended periods of time. The candidate must have a strong work ethic and remain committed to meeting deadlines. Responsibilities • As requested, and directed, support all development and construction staff with the execution of their duties in support of all project activities where the Company is acting as developer or co-developer. • With oversight, conduct detailed commercial real estate market and competitive position research, delivering accurate financial analyses and modeling relating to project budgets and feasibility, including validating assumptions and summarizing findings in written and/or oral presentations. • Assist senior personnel in soliciting proposals from potential construction lenders including preparing financing memos and packages for submission. • Manage/coordinate with team prioritizing, organization, multiple tasks, and make recommendations. • Provide support for Ad-hoc projects including insurance documents, written/oral presentations, and operational procedures. • Uphold meticulous recordkeeping practices, ensuring that documentation is preserved in accordance with policy and regulation, and available for inquiries or examinations in real time. • Conduct research to gather and evaluate economic, demographic, and real estate market data. • Participate in construction progress meetings (OAC) and assist with project updates to help ensure on-time and on-budget delivery. • Work with architects, engineers, contractors, leasing teams, property managers, and tenants across various asset classes. • Manage feasibility studies for prospective development opportunities. • Track monthly project proformas and costs to ensure accuracy and financial performance is met. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis on a real estate-related discipline (e.g., finance, development, etc.), economics, mathematics, architecture, engineering or other real estate or construction-related field is required. • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the real estate industry. • Must be highly detailed and demonstrate excellent financial, mathematical, and statistical skills, often working with complex databases and/or quantitative tools with proficiency and accuracy for extended periods of time. • Possess aptitude for learning new technology applications, and current proficiency at an intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite and Argus real estate analysis software. Microsoft Project is preferred. • Required to exhibit fundamental commercial real estate knowledge, sound judgment, and initiative. • Must be self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic and demonstrate problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
