Arch Reinsurance is seeking a Data Governance and Metadata Analyst to join our dynamic Data Strategy team—a group committed to transforming how data is managed and leveraged across the organization. This is a hybrid, once-a-week, hybrid (Wednesdays) role in Farmington, CT. What You’ll Do As a key member of the Data Strategy team, you will: Operationalize Data Governance: Help bring our Data Governance and Data Management framework to life by embedding best practices into project workflows and everyday work. Consult on Projects: Partner with cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards. Support Governance Technologies: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of platforms such as: Data Catalog (e.g., Collibra, Alation) Master/Reference Data Management (MDM/RDM) Data Quality tools Drive Metadata Excellence: Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain accurate and accessible metadata across systems. Enable Reference Data Standardization: Provide data and business analysis support to harmonize reference data across the enterprise. Job Responsibilities Project Alignment & Consultation Partner with project teams to ensure alignment with Arch’s Data Governance and Data Management framework. Provide guidance on data standards, policies, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle. Review project deliverables for compliance with governance requirements. Operationalize Governance Framework Support the rollout and adoption of data governance processes across business units. Help embed governance practices into daily operations and project workflows. Maintain documentation of governance procedures and data standards. Technology Platform Support Assist in the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of: Data Catalog Platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation) Master Data Management (MDM) / Reference Data Management (RDM) Platforms Data Quality Platforms Monitor platform usage and performance and support user onboarding and training. Metadata Management Collaborate with data stewards and owners to capture and maintain metadata. Ensure metadata is accurate, complete, and accessible via the data catalog. Support metadata enrichment and classification efforts. Reference Data Standardization Conduct data analysis and business analysis to support reference data harmonization. Identify inconsistencies and gaps in reference data across systems. Work with stakeholders to define and implement standard reference data values. Stakeholder Collaboration Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs and challenges. Facilitate communication between data governance, IT, and business teams. Promote awareness and adoption of governance tools and practices. Required Skills Metadata Management: Understanding of metadata concepts and experience with data cataloging Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with platforms for MDM/RDM, data quality, and governance workflows. Business Analysis: Ability to understand business requirements and translate that knowledge into metadata for Data Governance Tools and Data Management Initiatives Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data sets to identify inconsistencies, gaps, data requirements, and opportunities for standardization. SQL or Querying Skills: Basic to intermediate ability to query data for validation and analysis. Data Modeling Concepts: Understanding of data structures, relationships, and reference data domains. Governance & Compliance Knowledge Data Governance Frameworks: Knowledge of governance principles and best practices. MDM and RDM Management: Knowledge of MDM and RDM principles and best practices Data Quality Management: Experience defining and monitoring data quality rules and metrics. Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with data-related regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance requirements. Tool Proficiency Data Catalog Platforms: Experience with tools like Collibra, Informatica Axon, or Alation. Data Quality Platforms: Knowledge of tools like Informatica Data Quality, Talend, or similar. Reporting Platforms: Exposure to tools like PowerBI Other Technologies: Office 365, Confluence, data visualization tools (Visio, Lucid) Detail-Oriented: Precision in managing metadata and identifying data issues. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot data inconsistencies and governance gaps. Adaptability: Comfortable working in dynamic environments and across multiple projects. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related field required preferred Minimum 2 years experience or knowledge of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Data Stewardship principles preferred Minimum 5 years experience applying technical and business skills to perform data analysis, understand business requirements and translate that knowledge into descriptive metadata and reference data Minimum 5 years experience in Insurance and/or Reinsurance industry Experience working with cloud-based applications and experience with system testing and understanding IT security principles. #LI-ZP1 #LI-Hybrid For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible. $110,000 - $130,000/year Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
