Job Description Summary The Instrument Plant Materials Supervisor manages day-to-day warehouse activities to ensure goals are accomplished and communication occurs within the group and across all functions/shifts. This includes providing leadership in day-to-day warehouse activity, employee career development, and overall coaching support to the warehouse team. Responsibilities and Duties Performs administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, staging and supplying materials (raw, work-in-process and finished goods), parts and supplies, to operators, workstations and distribution center Responsible for assigning, distributing workloads and control of material flows Serves as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the Instrument Plant for Warehouse Management, Inventory Control, Cycle Counting and SAP Master Data for these processes. Oversee Instrument Plant cycle counts based on monthly and quarterly goals. Investigate inventory inaccuracies and supply improvements. Inform appropriate leadership of any issues & impacts. Help utilize warehouse space efficiently and effectively. Help establish Warehouse Activity monitor goals/metrics for the Instrument Plant and work with all appropriate teams to ensure goals are met. Support standardization of SAP and inventory best practices. Reviews the PSA’s and acts as the oversite body to ensure information is accurate. Mentor and train associates regarding inventory control, warehouse processes and procedures including system and non-system processes. Participate in all design transfers by providing information to drive setting up stocking locations for the materials. Ensure daily operation for assigned business area runs efficiently, effectively, and safely. Ensure departmental procedures, SOPs and work instructions are updated and training provided to associates as required. Conducts staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics such as safety, quality, policy changes, etc. Supports and leads continuous improvement recommendations and/or solutions to support overall operational efficiency Provides coaching to associates on day-to-day activities and performance. May be responsible for training associates towards fork truck certification. Provides training to associates including on-boarding and/or new procedures. Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures. Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education Bachelor’s or associate degree with 2 relevant years’ experience OR High school degree with 5 years relevant experience required. Extensive knowledge and utilization of SAP (Logistics, Inventory and Warehouse) preferred or similar Electronic Material Management System required. Previous work experience with the use of material handling equipment (pallet jacket, forklift, shrink wrapper) Knowledge of regulatory requirements, process validations, safe work practices, and ISO 9000 requirements. Extensive knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Office tools Valid driver’s license required. Forklift Certification preferred. Required Skills Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to seek and accept feedback from others. Strong conflict resolution skills. Must be capable of sharing knowledge and developing associates. Ability to work with all levels of personnel from company president to production associates. Ability to plan at a high level but execute at the detail level. Use independent judgment to plan, prioritize, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve. Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills.
