Description Summary: The Model Management and Optimization team within BSA Operations is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of all models used for BSA/AML compliance. In addition to continuously improving Customer Risk Management and Transaction Monitoring models, MMO is also responsible for business intelligence functions such as ongoing model performance metrics (effectiveness), customer behavior and transaction channel monitoring, operational forecasting, key performance and risk indicator monitoring, and data integrity control monitoring. MMO develops and maintains user tools for other BSA Operations teams to assist in alert review or KPI tracking. Through these responsibilities, MMO works closely with Information Technology, Model Risk Management, Segment Risk, Internal Audit, product groups, and lines of business. The AML Modeling Analyst I will be expected to maintain, build, and enhance all analytical models for BSA/AML Operations, including continuous improvement and implementation of data mining, machine learning, and other next-generation analytical capabilities. The modeling analyst will be expected to evaluate quantitative approaches and supporting systems to align analytical models with risk and regulatory requirements. Core responsibilities include data mining, analysis, building models, testing, model documentation and implementation. Validate and identify opportunities in streamlining the data, accuracy, and track to resolution. Maintain knowledge and expertise by monitoring white papers, industry developments, and other key knowledge sources. Duties & Responsibilities: Participate in the development of models and techniques to facilitate MMO's model development and maintenance. Participate in the development and tuning of models using data mining and SAS/SQL queries in support of process optimization, solving and testing for various solutions; Perform statistical/analytical analysis, root cause analysis, data mining, business intelligence, visual analytics/visualization in support of BSA/AML operations; With assistance from the manager, write effective documentation of model development and tuning to meet standards set by the model governance group and defend the decisions made; Work with the internal partners to implement models within a framework to allow most efficient and effective use of models for BSA/AML purposes; Analyze current systems and processes to identify potential improvements or enhancements; Stay current with technical enhancements, methodologies, statistical and analytical techniques and trends related to model management and development; With assistance from the manager, research, understand, and implement next-generation analytical capabilities to MMO's core functions. With assistance from the manager, synthesize findings into senior level presentation that convey insights and recommendations through compelling storytelling, while maintain a balance between the big picture and mastery of details. With assistance from the manager, work with internal strategy, modeling, test design, leads production, and key stakeholders to generate and deliver analysis to other business units within BSA/AML With assistance from the manager, successfully evaluate, deploy and monitor the model to track performance and make necessary adjustments as needed. Developing database skills, including working with advanced data sets, pivot tables, advanced database, and statistical functions and methods. Developing ability to identify potential concerns, analyze and solve problems; ability to work effectively and independently and in teams to resolve such issues while meeting aggressive timelines. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, or work experience equivalent 0-1 years of SQL programming and large database applications such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, or Teradata. 0-1 years of experience in data mining / statistical analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, Python or R. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree in Business, Economics, Decision Sciences, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics. (Master's, PhD, etc.) Experience developing and applying statistical or machine learning methods in a corporate environment through applications such as SAS, SPSS, S, S-PLUS, or R. Excellent PC software skills including all Microsoft Office Products. Huntington systems and data knowledge; examples include Actimize CTR/ECM/KYC, SAS AML, FDR, and Enterprise Data Warehouse Huntington product and service knowledge with the understanding of how risk and controls identify and mitigate risks Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Progressive thinker and problem solver, with a strong ability to manage ambiguity/complexity.
