We are currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer I to join our Information Systems team to design, develop, and maintain software systems that support the distribution of incentives for clean energy technologies. In this role, you will bring your expertise and leverage cutting-edge technologies to architect and implement systems that support nationwide energy efficiency and distributed energy resource programs. This unique position is perfect for individuals with technical prowess that want to have an impact on energy efficiency markets and greenhouse gas reductions through our work for major North American utilities and other clients around the country. Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Completing tasks under the direction of others, while demonstrating fundamental knowledge of software engineering principles using Python, Django, Postgres and frontend technologies. Taking well-defined specifications and completing them in an expected amount of time. Contributing new unit tests and promptly fixing any tests that fail continuous integration checks. Participating cross-functionally, including quality control and technical support. Performing code reviews. Promptly updating tickets with current status of work. Participating in agile ceremonies such as standup meetings and pointing discussions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience may also be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in Python; experience with the Django framework is preferred. Hands-on experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL, Oracle, or similar. Preferred Qualifications: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated enthusiasm for collaborative software development and working in cross-functional teams. Basic understanding of software security principles. Prior experience in the energy sector is a plus. Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $80k - $100k/Annually Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package.
