Supervise security staff, monitor facility safety and security systems, respond to incidents and emergencies, and ensure compliance with shelter protocols.
High school diploma, 1-2 years supervisory experience, valid security and fire guard licenses, CPI certification, knowledge of security and fire systems, and familiarity with shelter protocols.
About the position Responsibilities • Train new security officers /residential aide employees in all aspects of the facility. • Supervise security staff during your assigned shift, assigning breaks, post assignments, and duties • Monitor access control and ensure effective use of the magnetometer and x-ray machine • Respond to incidents and utilize crisis management to protect the safety of the staff and clients • Make rounds throughout the facility and external premises to prevent, detect, deter, and report hazardous situations, trespassers, and illegal activities. • Respond to emergencies in person throughout the building, and provide guidance and support to line staff and subordinates. • Conduct daily security and fire safety system inspections • Fulfill all job responsibilities of a Safety Security Officer in their absence. • Maintain the safety and security of clients and staff. • Provide crisis intervention when needed. • Assist the Security Manager in preparing and executing fire drills. • Oversee AWOL family property pack up • Monitor logging of client property to ensure accuracy • Ensure that all managers are kept aware of critical incidents on assigned shifts • Review log book entries, incident reports, and critical administrative responsibilities on assigned shift, checking for errors and ensuring accuracy • Attend various meetings and trainings as needed. • Check inventory of all assigned equipment daily, and investigate any discrepancies. • Mandatory Overtime Required • Perform all related duties as assigned. Requirements • Proof of education is required: High School Diploma/GED. • 1-2 years of Supervisor experience required. • A valid N.Y.S Security Guard License, Fire Guard License F80 Required, and certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI). • Must possess a general knowledge of security systems. • Ability to solve problems; ability to make decisions based on factual information is a must. • Knowledge of video surveillance and fire detection/alarm notification systems a must. • Must be flexible on days and hours of availability. • Must have shelter knowledge and be familiar with CARES and DHS shelter protocols
