Remote Services Structures Technician / Avionics Installer - L2 Aviation - Dripping Springs, TX - work from home job Company: L2 Aviation Job description: Position: Remote Services Structures Technician/Avionics Installer Locations: Dripping Springs, TX (Austin, TX area) / Cincinnati, OH Description: Established systems integration company seeks avionics/structures technician with 5+ years’ experience in avionics and structural modifications programs or similar aircraft maintenance operations to support company installations and local manufacturing operations when not on a remote installation. Position: Remote Services Structures Technician/Avionics Installer – Experience 5 + years Primary Responsibilities: • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, work from engineering drawings, written or verbal instructions, as well as problem solving from various technical documents. • Perform support functions for the installation crew to include off-aircraft assembly, parts tracking, inventory, and assembly of document packages, job site prep/clean, computer entry and general support of the job site. • Performs the installation process for antenna doublers, equipment racks and treys, mounting brackets and mounting structures all in accordance with STC drawings. • Performs structural aircraft repairs using appropriate sheet metal techniques and fasteners. Builds up surfaces and structures to specifications. Installs Service Bulletin kits using parts and instructions provided by O.E.M. • Must liaison for engineering and provide options for drawing deviations. • Plans and develops schemes for sheet metal repairs and/or modifications by utilizing blueprints, sketches, service bulletins, OEM or government specifications, engineering orders or other technical publications. • All installation activities referenced above to be performed in accordance with the appropriate FAA approved document and Manufacturer’s Installation Manual as well as any and all applicable L2 documents. • Uses precision measuring instruments to accomplish sheet metal repairs or modifications, (i.e. micrometers, calipers, surface plates, protractors, combination squares, etc.) • Sets up and uses sheet metal equipment such as power brakes, presses, saws, rollers, etc. • Constructs dollies, jigs, and special tools as required. • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a “sign-off”) in a clear, concise and accurate manner. • Accomplishes Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required. • Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams when required. • Have basic Avionics skills to assist in installation type work. • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting, and continuously improving company policies and procedures • Observes all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping rules and policies. • May perform other duties as required by the department. • Approximately 95% + travel. • Must pass 10-year security clearance background verification and submit to company’s DOT/FAA Part 145 Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program. Preferred Qualifications: • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License Preferred but not required. • Experienced in reading and interpreting technical documents and working from same. • Self-directed/self-starter in completion of assigned responsibilities. • Experience working on large transport-category aircraft strongly preferred. • Hands-on experience operating or performing modifications on aircraft a plus. • Enjoys the challenges of working projects that vary greatly and have distinct potential to require significant changes or alterations in mid-stream, remaining flexible and adaptable. • Willingness to learn and grow by doing. Must have desire to gain experience/expertise and advance within the organization. • Must be legally able to work in USA and supply required supporting documentation for I-9 Form. Physical Requirements: • Must be willing to work extended hours and work consecutive days as needed. A normal workday is 12 hours. • Must be able to work in prolonged standing positions.
