About the Role: You will provide government outreach and strategic communications to a Federal government client. The role is an opportunity for you to join a consulting team that supports the Department of Homeland Security with developing and implementing a strategic communications plan within the public safety domain. You will be responsible for leading daily, weekly, and monthly communications tasks, action items, and production; assisting Executive Leadership and staff with all communications activities; establishing and maintaining relationships with cross-functional groups; collaborating with colleagues to clearly define project goals; and generating effective solutions to fulfill project needs and objectives. You are a progressive thinker with a strong attention to detail, and a self-starter who can juggle many tasks on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to): • Lead the development and update of the program’s communications strategy and execution plan • Lead the creation of understandable and compelling narratives so that decision makers can readily understand strategies and strategic options • Develop, write, and edit communications materials • Lead a small team of outreach specialists and provide quality assurance, strategic direction, and editing support. • Lead programmatic social media initiatives to include advisement and creating posts, analyzing traction and making recommendations to optimize social presence • Coordinate effectively with clients and stakeholders across agencies and levels of government • Conduct work with integrity and display sensitivity to working in a high stakes, high pressure organization and decision making environment • Develop infographics, presentations, reports, briefings,graphics and additional outreach materials • Possess a keen eye for cutting-edge imagery, layout, typography, and color • Write professional storyboards and scripts for multimedia presentations Location: You will work as part of a dynamic team at the home office in metro-accessible Washington, D.C. (remote currently). • You will interview, onboard, and work remotely due to COVID-19 until it is safe to return to the office* Required Experience/Skills: • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience in government outreach/strategic communications • Experience developing, finalizing, and implementing a comprehensive outreach/strategic communications plan while managing multiple tasks to move milestones forward to result in increased awareness and use of innovative new tools for public safety officials • Ability to develop, track, and demonstrate engagement metrics to include social media, website visits, and overall stakeholder engagement initiatives • Experience coordinating the development of marketing materials and managing speaking engagements, webinars, conferences, social media, and publications to enhance outreach presence • Direct experience working on a day-to-day (face-to-face) basis providing senior level advisement to clients and/or senior officials • Experience advising and coaching teammates • Creative thinker with the ability to translate complex information into manageable pieces • Be equally comfortable working at a strategic level and producing high quality content and deliverables • Proficient in problem solving with a flexible approach towards stakeholders • Receptive to all forms of feedback from clients and colleagues • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; skilled in writing, editing, and knowledge management • US citizenship or permanent resident with the ability to pass a government public trust clearance or suitability Preferred Experience/Skills: • Experience with emergency management/emergency communications • Journalism/Media background • Experience working on communications campaigns across different mediums to include multimedia, video, and web • Experience working as a communications consultant • Experience working on government programs and/or in the field of First Responder Communication systems • Knowledge of existing communications technologies and software • Experience with professional motion and animated graphics • Knowledge of information architecture, usability, evolving Web standards, HTML5, and CSS3 • Experience with Adobe products - such as Premier and Creative Suite - for graphics creation and manipulation, video and audio editing, and media output and encoding for different platforms • Experience with advanced coding and compression schemes for delivery over intranet Don’t think you have everything for this role but are still very interested?
