We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Entry Clerk to join our team. As a Data Entry Clerk, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our database by entering new and updated customer and insurance information after samples are processed in the laboratory. Job Summary The Data Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately and efficiently entering customer and insurance data into our database. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will be able to maintain data entry requirements, verify entered data, and contact customers/clinics to validate incomplete information. This role works with Protected Health Information (PHI) on a regular basis and requires completion of HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and procedure Compliance training, and security training. Key Responsibilities • Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities. • Processes customer and insurance source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the team leader for resolution. • Enters customer and insurance data after samples are processed by the laboratory. • Double-checks work and assures all data is in the case correctly. • Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures. • Verifies entered customer and insurance data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data. • Contacts customers/clinics directly to validate incomplete information. • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. • Prepares requisitions to be filed daily. • Performs other duties as assigned by Management. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Healthcare, Marketing, or Business-related field preferred. • At least 1 year of insurance experience is a plus. • Proficient in data entry skills, typing, and attention to detail. • Strong organizational and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and make decisions. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Skills and Competencies: • Experience working with PHI and HIPAA compliance. • Familiarity with laboratory sample processing and medical terminology. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management software. • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
