Overview Our client, a rapidly growing retail and e-commerce brand with ~1,000 employees, is seeking a Head of Marketing to lead the company’s full-funnel marketing strategy across brand, acquisition, retention, loyalty, creative, and omnichannel customer experience. The ideal candidate is a consumer-centric, data-informed marketing leader with a deep understanding of brand storytelling, performance marketing, omnichannel retail journeys, and customer lifecycle management. This leader will own demand generation across physical and digital channels, elevate the brand’s emotional resonance, and drive measurable revenue impact across all customer segments. You will manage a diverse, multi-disciplinary team spanning brand, creative, performance marketing, CRM/lifecycle, social, content, loyalty, and retail store marketing. Key Responsibilities Brand Strategy & Market Positioning • Own the global brand strategy, ensuring consistent positioning across digital, retail stores, merchandising, and partnerships. • Define and evolve the brand narrative, voice, and visual identity to strengthen emotional connection with consumers. • Conduct category and competitive research to inform brand strategy, product messaging, and consumer targeting. • Build integrated brand campaigns across retail seasons, product launches, and high-conversion shopping moments. Customer Acquisition & Performance Marketing • Lead multi-channel acquisition across: • Paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest) • Paid search & shopping feeds (Google SEM/PLA) • Retail media networks (Amazon, Walmart, Target) • Display/programmatic • Influencer & creator partnerships • Affiliate & content commerce • Own the performance marketing budget, optimizing ROAS, CAC, and omni-funnel performance. • Develop playbooks for seasonal demand generation — BFCM, product launches, holiday gifting, back-to-school, and new store openings. • Implement attribution models and incrementality testing to measure true revenue impact. Omnichannel Retail & In-Store Marketing • Develop integrated marketing plans for both e-commerce and physical retail. • Drive foot traffic, in-store promotions, and localized campaigns for new store openings. • Partner with Merchandising, Store Operations, and Retail Leadership to align marketing with inventory, assortment planning, and retail experiences. • Own strategy for retail signage, in-store storytelling, experiential activations, and retail event programming. Customer Lifecycle, Loyalty & CRM • Build segmented lifecycle programs for onboarding, repeat purchase, win-back, VIP, and loyalty growth. • Oversee CRM campaigns across email, SMS, push, and personalized onsite experiences. • Develop loyalty program strategy (tier design, rewards, retention incentives). • Improve core lifecycle KPIs including repeat purchase rate, AOV, retention curves, and customer lifetime value. Content, Creative & Social • Lead the creative function including copywriting, design, photography, and video production. • Drive brand storytelling across organic social, influencer marketing, YouTube, and emerging platforms. • Own content strategy for product education, lifestyle storytelling, editorial content, and brand partnerships. • Build scalable creator programs with influencers, ambassadors, and tastemakers across retail categories. Marketing Analytics, Insights & Experimentation • Build dashboards and KPIs measuring: • CAC • ROAS • Retention & repeat rate • First-to-repeat conversion • Contribution margin • Retail foot traffic • Loyalty engagement metrics • Champion test-and-learn culture across landing pages, merchandising strategies, creative variants, and retail promotions. • Partner with Data & Consumer Insights to run market research, customer segmentation, and trend analysis. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment • Lead a 12–20-person team across brand, performance, CRM, creative, SEO, retail marketing, and content. • Build a culture of creativity, accountability, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration. • Partner with: • Merchandising: pricing, category strategy, launch calendars • E-commerce: onsite conversion, checkout optimization • Retail Operations: in-store traffic, promotions, local activations • Product: brand alignment for new products and categories • Finance: forecasting, budget allocation, marketing ROI • Present strategy and insights to Executive Leadership, including CMO and CEO. Qualifications • 10–15 years of marketing experience, including 4+ years leading consumer or retail marketing teams. • Deep experience in retail, e-commerce, DTC, or omnichannel consumer brands. • Mastery of performance marketing, brand strategy, CRM/lifecycle programs, and retail marketing execution. • Strong understanding of consumer behavior, conversion psychology, merchandising, and seasonal retail dynamics. • Track record managing 7-figure marketing budgets and achieving meaningful revenue growth. • Hands-on experience with marketing technology: • Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest • Klaviyo, Braze, Attentive, Salesforce Marketing Cloud • Google Analytics, Amplitude, Looker • Shopify Plus / Magento / custom retail platforms • Exceptional storytelling, communication, and executive influence skills. • Experience leading marketing at ~500–2,000 employee growth-stage consumer brands is strongly preferred.
