Architect, implement, and maintain automation, build, and test tooling for Linux packages and operating system images in cloud and on-prem environments.
5+ years experience with Linux automation, cloud platforms, build systems, scripting, and systems engineering with a BS/BA in Computer Science or related field.
The Sr. Automation and Release Engineer will play an instrumental role in bringing CIQ’s Linux automation infrastructure to the next level. As an Automation and Release Engineer, you will work closely with CIQ’s Engineering and Operations teams to architect, implement, and maintain automation, build, and test tooling for everything from Linux packages to entire operating system images for use in on-prem, cloud, and high-performance computing environments. This role requires a deep technical understanding of Linux, modern automation and build tooling, scripting and software development, and systems engineering, as well as an insatiable appetite for learning more. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide subject matter expertise on automation and build tooling Contributing or participating in architecture-level discussions, planning, and implementation Research to ensure that what we are building is always the best path forward Document each project to share knowledge and facilitate cross-training Develop proof of concepts and minimal viable products for demonstration Design and implement test automation for everything from software packages to the operating system Work closely with cross-functional teams to support product deliverables and business objectives Identify opportunities to optimize performance and reduce costs across the infrastructure landscape. NEEDED TO SUCCEED Successful candidates will have: Expertise in automation, tooling, build systems, Linux, containers, virtual machines, and delivering high-quality products to maximize CIQ’s capability to scale. A deep familiarity with Cloud and Cloud-Native Principles. Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize cloud marketplace integrations. The ability to troubleshoot and improve applications and processes, analyze current code and industry developments, and develop engineering solutions to solve problems. Proficiency in managing and maintaining compute environments, including virtualization and containerization. A friendly, collaborative, humble, honest, and always striving-to-be-better attitude. Deep-seated need to replace the world with scripts. Curiosity and an eagerness to learn. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE BS/BA in Computer Science or related 5+ years of relevant work experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP Direct hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions at scale, or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience BENEFITS Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
