The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Undergraduate UI & Advanced Visualization Development Intern for the Engineering Applications Department (EAD) within the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). This position will be full-time, 100% onsite at our office in El Segundo, CA. Additional onsite work locations include Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VA. Job Summary Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers. EAD develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From virtual and augmented reality, to web, cloud, and desktop applications; EAD evaluates and creates unique software tools that present data and analysis to key decision makers. What You’ll Be Doing Develop user-friendly and interactive visualizations for engineering applications Collaborate with subject-matter experts to implement graphical user interfaces and enhance user experience Utilize graphics visualization and data visualization techniques to help engineers solve space and ground system engineering problems Prepare and deliver presentations on project progress and results to team members and stakeholders Identify and recommend opportunities for new capabilities and research Training and mentorship will be provided What Corporate Skills You’ll Bring Strong written and oral communication skills Must work well in a team environment. What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship. Minimum GPA of 3.0 Experience with JavaScript programming Experience with frontend development in React Development experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal, Godot etc.) Computer graphics or multimedia development experience Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Self-motivation and a willingness to take initiative This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Transcripts required. How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: GPA 3.5 or higher Active security clearance Experience with other programming languages (python, C++, C## etc.) Experience with data visualization libraries such as Three.js, D3.js, or Chart.js Knowledge of RESTful APIs and asynchronous data fetching techniques Temporary housing assistance is not available. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
