Position Summary The Process Engineer IV is an individual contributor accountable for project design, concept estimates, team performance and developing strategic plans to develop and support projects for SJI. Responsibilities also include clarifying, and managing scope, budget and schedule within approved parameters and providing structured and detailed reports to Management. Tasks include but are not limited to, project design and support from concept to construction and operations, design and engineering task coordination, project reporting, component specifications, permit support documentation, and relationship management with external customers, vendors, local authorities and regulatory agencies. Interacts routinely with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management, and governmental and regulatory officials. Essential Functions: Prepare documents, calculations, and supporting information necessary to design and specify various elements of SJI projects including but not limited to; concept and detailed drawings, heat and mass balances, wastewater and anaerobic organic process loads, gas processing design and equipment specifications Gas specific: hands on experience in operating gas upgrading equipment is a plus; familiarity with various technologies (PSA, membrane, carbon and iron media beds, compression, flares, etc); familiarity with Ignition a plus; air permitting AD specific: hands on experience with overall AD operations is a plus, ability to review feedstock quality/lab analyses and prepare biogas production estimates; familiarity with various processes and equipment (digester mixing, digestate dewatering, post treatment, depackaging systems, etc); waste and digestate permitting Coordinate and collaborate on project design to assure reliability, functionality, compliance with all applicable codes and standards, operability, cost, time, quality and execution guidelines according to schedule Work to project schedules and timely deliverables Coordinate with all parties involved (internal and external) to ensure professional project management from system design to construction and operations support phase Prepare and assist in preparation of capital and operating facility estimates, performance reports and schedule updates Engage in onsite system evaluations and troubleshooting; develop corrective action plans and recommendations for improved operating performance Understand and apply safe work and design practices in all project activities Work closely with project managers on various projects and collaborate with the SJI REV team and actively participate in developing project standards Manage expectations and accountability both personally and professionally Required Skills: Experience with anaerobic digestion of varied wastes, wastewater and biogas processing Advanced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Project) Familiarity with construction management software, Procore a plus Ability to identify project issues early and implement corrective measures Excellent time and project management skills Possess leadership skills and identify “big picture” Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field with 8 years of relevant experience, or; Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Compensation Range: $97,500 - 156,000 We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
