Description This position would be based in-office in Somerset, PA during the initial training period. After the training period has been successfully completed, the position will be based in-office in Johnstown, PA. SUMMARY Analyze financial information for large commercial customers to estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to businesses or individuals by performing the following duties. This position would require the ability to write in a professional manner and to explain the movements and trends in a borrower's financials. This position would require 3 to 5 years working as an Assistant Credit Analyst or the equivalent experience outside Somerset Trust Company. This position would require the employee to work independently without assistance on large commercial loan requests and the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel on a daily basis without assistance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. • Analyze large commercial relationships to assess the risk associated with lending money to businesses or individuals. This process would include understanding the financial trends and movements and the ability to discuss and write about those trends and movements. This information is presented in a written format within a Word document for review by other bank personnel. The ability to use Microsoft Word is critical to the position. • Prepare business, personal and global cash flows to ensure the ability of the borrower/borrowing entity to re-pay bank debts by analyzing and extracting data from business and personal tax returns or accountant prepared statements. The information is presented in an Excel format using the software to create formulas and calculate percentages etc. • Employee must possess a strong understanding of business and personal tax returns as well as accountant prepared financial statements. A clear understanding of the terminology disclosed in the financial statements is critical for this position. • Perform financial spreads of financial statements or tax returns and ratios with software used to provide efficient feedback. • Contact banks, trade and credit associations, salespeople, accountants, and others to obtain credit information on customers as necessary. • The ability to use internet resources to research economic trends in business industries or branches of the industry to predict probable success of new or existing customer or borrower. • Visit establishments with the loan officer, as requested, to determine condition of plant and equipment and compare methods of operation with accepted practices in industry. • Consult with management to assist in the lending function. Employee must be able to present information to Sr. Management with a clear understanding of the risks associated with the borrower and explain any calculations prepared during the analysis process. • Provide support to External Loan Review and or Examiners when on site with the bank for their annual reviews. Provide explanation of the information presented in the analysis prepared as necessary. • Attend Officer Loan Committee meetings, as necessary and requested, and prepare analytical work for the meeting as necessary. • Work closely with the Commercial Lenders to analyze their commercial loan requests and obtain all necessary information to assess all risk related to proposed lending. • The ability to multitask and work under time constraints with accuracy is necessary. • Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank's internal policies. • Various other duties as they arise within the department. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. BUSINESS WRITING SKILLS: Ability to convert financial reports and statements in various forms into concise business terminology. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc. The ability to understand terminology disclosed in accountant prepared financial statements as related to GAAP. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
