SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: · Reading BOM and supplying to line any materials needed. · Ensuring materials are at line for startups. · Proper purging and cleaning of machines upon completion of orders. · Knowledge of setting blending systems and LR system. Ensuring lines are running good material free of contaminants · Good housekeeping around your area. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: · Understands and Adheres to all Silgan Safety Policies including the Corporate 21 Point Safety Standards, Any Addendum, Silgan Plastics No Tolerance Policy, Reading and understanding all "Safety Rules" items as outlined in the Employee Handbook · Promotes safety and working safely throughout the facility to prevent injury to self and co-workers, addressing unsafe conditions & behaviors, Inspects work area daily. · Wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and GMP required gear. · Being aware of all Emergency Exits and knowing procedures for Emergency Evacuation as well as location of Tornado Shelter and Evacuation Assembly Area. · Knowing the location of the SDS Safety Data Sheets and how to utilize properly. · Knowing not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to do complete the task safely. · Always following proper( LOTO) Lockout/Tag Out procedures. · Never remove or bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operation. • Being cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment. · Reporting all injuries or accidents to your Supervisor immediately. · Fully understanding and supportive of the Safety START card program and knowledgeable in how to complete a Start Card (S Safety, T Target, A All Personnel and, R Relies on, _ T_Teamwork) · Understand and follow plant housekeeping guidelines. · Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation practices · Ability to work well with others. · Always asking for help before completing a task or job duty that is unsafe or you are unsure of the proper way to complete. · Performs other duties as assigned. · Reading and understanding specific information pertaining to your job duties and classification. (i.e. Silgan (BOM) Specifications, Job Safety Analysis, Work Instructions, Plant Memos, etc.). · Conduct daily 2-6-2 meetings before start of shift for job assignments and safety updates. · Attending any other specific meetings or training as posted on bulletin boards. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (cont.): 1 Housekeeping-keep blender area dust mopped-work areas must stay clean and safe on and around equipment. Areas should be free of oil spills and other contaminants. 2 Vacuum material off machines and after purge. Also, must clean oil pans. 3 Clean filters and magnets on blending system and dryers. 4 Must clean assigned lines for weekly housekeeping inspection sheet. 5 Review schedule for daily activities on your shift, verify material being used versus BOM specs for colors, resin, additives and percent of additives. 6 Record and sign on activity log report the materials being used and also online clearance start-up/shutdown sheet. 7 Monitor blending system ensuing regrind and color is being used consistently. Check hopper windows, ensuring material does not run out. 8 Communicate with warehouse to get materials needed on production schedule. 9 Must know how to set blending system for color, regrind, and resin, and must have materials at line for startups. 10 Understand LR systems and follow systems manual when operating or troubleshooting the system. 11 Verify each Gaylord or barrel of color or regrind is covered and properly tagged. 12 Weigh all End of Run materials and tag, also place in End of Run staging area. 13 Notify Supervisor if contamination is found. 14 Weigh and tag all full gaylords of regrind and chunks and place in staging area. 15 Clean and purge any changeovers using line clearance procedure, labeling all barrels with proper information, cleaning and vacuuming hoppers, barrels, etc. 16 Keep emptied gaylords broken down and stacked and place any other cardboard in compacter. If equipment is in need of repair, fill out a maintenance work order request. AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable): EDUCATION: · Required: Must be able to read, write, and speak English · Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Required: • Good Communication and motivation skill. • Good personal safety, attendance, and job performance record. • Both high amounts of quality and quantity of work. • Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use. • Extent, to which team member identifies and corrects errors, initiates work activities, assumes responsibility, completes work assignments, meets schedules follows established policies/procedures and anticipates needs. • Builds trust by respecting the ideas and contributions of everyone. Preferred: SKILLS: Required: • Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence team members to work safely. • Demonstrated willingness to work well with others within a team environment. • Demonstrated ability to communicate and train effectively. • Ability to assess job tasks, and prioritize those tasks when conditions change. • Forklift certification. • Be mechanically inclined to use ordinary tools (wrenches, socket wrenches, Allen wrenches. • Ability to read and fully understand BOM. Preferred: · Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English. · Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions. · Able to read fractions on a ruler. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable): · Must be dependable. Must have good attendance record. · Ability to pass written requirements in numeric, visual, verbal comp, space visualization, and work orientation. · Ability to work or stand for a 12-hour shift. • Must be willing to work overtime when needed. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. • Work involves continuous bending, reaching, twisting, standing and walking. · Must be able to move up to 2000lbs with floor jack. · Climb up and down ladders. · General math skills. · In my absence others in my job class will cover my responsibilities.
