The Opportunity As a Litigation Legal Support Assistant, you will provide a variety of secretarial and administrative duties for assigned attorneys. You will be responsible for interacting with colleagues in a team setting and upholding the image of the Firm by maintaining positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff, and observing confidentiality of client matters. The Day-To-Day On any given day, you will be working with firm leadership, partners, and business colleagues on a variety of requests and projects. You will: Inputs, revises and finalizes correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents. Drafts routine correspondence, memoranda and other documents. High degree of proficiency with PACER and e-filing procedures for State and Federal Courts. Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Receives, reviews and prints electronic faxes. Delivers paper faxes as necessary. Sorts, dates and reads incoming mail. Prepares documents and packages for mail, messenger and overnight delivery. Prepare expense reports, manage vendor invoices, mailings, and travel arrangements Completes client/matter forms. Requests conflicts of interest checks, open new files. Maintains all client and general files. Conducts periodic review for possible storage of old files and prepares files to be closed. Coordinates and follows through on requests and projects with other support departments (e.g., word processing, receptionists, file/document clerks, office services). Provides overflow assistance and secretarial support for Secretarial Team Members’ attorneys and paralegals. Other duties and projects as assigned. Reviews and edit bills as necessary. You Have 5-7 years of legal support assistant experience. Experience with class action litigation a plus. Ability to manage vendor invoices. Proofreading, attention to detail and solid grammar a must. High degree of proficiency with Outlook a must. High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel) preferred. Typing speed/accuracy: 70 wpm with accuracy. Legal citation and legal terminology expertise. Familiarity with Carpe Diem, Aderant, DeltaView, Kiteworks, document management systems or similar technology. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Chicago. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
