Job title: Anticipated Community Outreach Facilitator Company: High School District 214 Job description: POSITION: Anticipated Community Outreach Facilitator (EGHS) 37.5 hrs/wk Grade 4 Effective September 29, 2023 ASSIGNMENT: 10 Month GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This is supportive and facilitation of work for programs and activities that serve all families. There is considerable contact with staff, students, parents, and the general public, which requires the ability to interact with people in a courteous and respectful manner. An employee in this position works within clearly established systems and procedures, must exhibit organizational skills, and exercise independent judgment and confidentiality in the performance of duties. The Community Outreach Facilitator must exhibit initiative and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the mission of the district. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 40 lbs. Must sit at workstation for extended period of time and/or move frequently from workstation to various other areas of building. Must organize and prioritize workflow. Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment. Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude. Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public. Must have awareness of a variety of student needs including physical and social emotional needs. Native level of proficiency in written and spoken Spanish or other languages and English. High degree of familiarity with other cultures. Attention to detail in work product, time management and reporting. * Availability on select evenings and weekends for school events. POSITION EXPECTATIONS: Supporting outreach efforts by performing the following but not limited to: a. assisting with student registration, fee waiver applications, and other processes associated with the enrollment of students b. attending Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and similar events at which parent attendance is expected c. attending other events assigned by administration d. working with Administration & staff to promote enrollment of students in courses and career pathways. e. attending student and parent conferences with DHSSSW, counselors and other support personnel as requested by faculty, parents or students f. conducting home visits, alone or with a staff member, as directed g. publicizing school events through world-of-mouth, phone calls (automated and live), emails, flyers, and other means h. providing staff development to faculty members and support personnel on selected topics i. translating verbal and written communications. j. assisting with routine office tasks when not otherwise engaged which may include answering phones, stuffing envelopes or similar duties. 2. Developing relationships with community members, including local clergy, business leaders, community activists, immigration attorneys, social service agencies, scholarship organizations, and local government officials. 3. Participating in appropriate professional development activities in order to enhance job performance. 4. Cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students and community members.
