Lead strategy and execution of community building and event programs to engage customers and drive advocacy and acquisition.
10+ years in community and field marketing, experience with SaaS startups, strong planning and storytelling skills, and ability to manage budgets and logistics.
About the role As our Senior Community & Events Lead, you’ll lead the charge in building both our online and offline communities, bringing customers and potential customers together, and ensuring their experiences are so good that they always leave saying, “That was actually worth my time, I’d take part it in again, and now I want to learn a lot more about Quo.” You’ll be the point person for creating spaces where small businesses connect, learn, and champion each other (and us). From a Reddit AMA that sparks 100 great questions to a conference booth that entices people to stop instead of walking by to an active group of 100s of advocates waiting to be unleashed, you’ll transform our customers into a community. You’ll own our full strategy around events and community building: need new event swag to appear to passersby? You’ll lead the way. Sales have a goal to schedule 15 meetings ahead of the next conference? You’ll build the campaigns to book those meetings. Need to grow our customer advocate list and engage them so we stay in front of them and they publicly talk about us more? You’ll get a project going and make it happen. Leadership's asking to sponsor an event? You'll have a way to analyze and determine whether or not the event should be a priority, and know how to execute it so that it's as successful as possible. While you’ll own this work, you won't be alone! Collaborators will be here to help you along the way. Our Marketing Team has a healthy appreciation for storytelling, scrappiness, and humanity. In a world of bland webinars and forgettable trade show swag, we aim to foster thoughtful community building, run corporate events that don’t feel corporate, and develop programs that turn leads into customers and customers into advocates. Some of the things you’ll do: Build and nurture our online community spaces so they don’t just sit there and exist, but thrive Identify and prioritize key sponsorships to expand Quo’s presence and credibility, and book them. Develop a systematic way to assess and experiment with them, ensuring that our events portfolio continues to grow and deliver value. Design community programs that turn our best customers into active advocates Lead the charge on field marketing and be responsible for both the success of the events themselves and the overall impact to our programs. Whether it's planning breakfast meetups or running small business workshops, you'll make sure we don’t just sponsor events, but stand out at them Work closely with Content, Partnerships, Growth, and Product to ensure our community and events always tie into the bigger story we’re telling Connect your work directly to acquisition goals, ensuring we’re capturing and converting leads and not simply sponsoring events just for the sake of attending them Measure what matters: engagement, advocacy, pipeline impact, lead generation… and use what you learn to continually shape a better approach Ensure that the voice of our community is heard inside the company, guiding internal advocates to share customer stories and use customer feedback to guide what we build next. About you 10+ years in community and field marketing, ideally at SaaS startups where you had to balance strategy with getting your hands dirty on every part of the process. A track record of building communities and running events that always stand out from the usual corporate approach and drove real outcomes Strong planning skills: you can juggle timelines, budgets, logistics and many different details without losing sight of the bigger picture A knack for storytelling and hospitality; you like creating experiences people talk about after they’re over, and know how to keep them connected long after the event has ended. Comfort with operating both strategy and scrappiness (sometimes in the same day) Previous work with small businesses or start-up/entrepreneurial communities before Bonus points if you have experience with Reddit and Slack communities Compensation The annual base salary range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Boston, New York, and Washington, DC Metro is $165,000 - $184,000 USD, and in all other US locations is $147,000 - $164,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.
