Job Summary: The Intern will be responsible for supporting the Asset Management team with all aspects of the investment management process with a primary focus on tracking asset level financial performance, monitoring construction progress, administering funding requests, identifying potential issues, and supporting business plan execution. The Special Situations group invests throughout the capital structure with a focus on higher yielding opportunities structured as either debt or equity. Special Situations investments are expected to include, but not be limited to, originating senior and subordinate debt as well as preferred and structured JV equity; acquiring non-performing and sub-performing commercial real estate debt; providing rescue and runway capital in distressed or dislocated scenarios as well as acquiring and operating underperforming real estate owned assets. Essential Functions: • Support the Asset Management team with monitoring property performance and progress towards achieving business plan objectives through review of asset-level financial reports and budgets, preparation of lease abstracts, processing capital disbursement requests, and research of competitive properties • Proactively track covenants and critical milestones to ensure compliance with loan documentation • Participate in financial modeling and due diligence for loan workouts, loan restructures, and real estate owned (“REO”) assets • Assist in preparation of quarterly portfolio review material • Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in related field in progress; preferred graduation date Spring/Summer 2027 • Interest in real estate, real estate finance, finance • Experience in financial modeling in Excel • Strong business writing skills and ability to concisely compile information into a clear presentation format • General knowledge of Argus Enterprise • Familiarity with different property types (office, multifamily, retail, and hotels) and operating characteristics of real estate assets (revenue, expenses, capital expenditures, leases, etc.) • General knowledge of capital structures (difference between debt and equity) • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Problem solving attitude and team player The expected hourly pay for this role is $25/hour. Actual compensation will be determined by several components, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills and qualifications, base salary of internal peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and a variety of financial, wellbeing, and health / welfare benefits.
