You’ll get a lot of face time with customers, play with cool tech, and make a medium positive impact in the world. As a backend engineer, you’re responsible for the plumbing. The guts. The part nobody sees until it breaks spectacularly. You’ll architect the systems that process thousands of applications without flinching, integrate with APIs that were clearly designed by someone having a bad day, and write code that your future self won’t hate. We need someone comfortable making decisions at 11pm and defending them at standup. You’ll own entire services end-to-end. Yes, that’s terrifying. Yes, that’s the point. Responsibilities • Design and build strong, resilient, and robust APIs • Work with third party APIs and build reliable integrations • Own functionality and scalability features by taking responsibility from inception to deployment • Uphold our engineering standards and bring consistency to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes you will encounter Requirements • Experience collaborating with team members in product, design, and operations • Experience building and designing backend systems • Familiarity with software engineering development cycles • Experience working with backend programming languages (Java, Ruby, Python) • Experience working with relational (SQL) databases • Uphold engineering and architecture standards • An desire to learn and fill gaps in development and execution Bonus points • C# and .NET Framework experience • Erlang or Elixir experience • Familiarity with containerization tooling • Familiarity with functional programming languages • Strong writing and commutation skills To apply, send resume and cover letter to max@theperfecthire.co
