ABOUT THE JOB: The primary function of the Strategic Account Manager is to identify and develop key partnerships with targeted commercial accounts. Leverage strong relationships within the large commercial development, design, and construction community to proactively find sales opportunities and drive these leads through the appropriate NWPX locations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop a comprehensive understanding of NWPX products and services to identify those strategic accounts and related projects that have growth potential for NWPX products in the current geography • Be an expert regarding the strategic account process, working closely with NWPX Project Sales Representatives and Regional Sales Engineers • Attend industry specific trade shows to identify current and future customers and their needs • Develop and manage successful relationships with key accounts throughout region • Prospect for new business in defined territory through networking, scheduling appointments, conducting lunch and learns, plant tours, and other sales generating activities • Utilize various sales techniques and platforms (LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, industry databases, referrals, supplier leads, etc.) to identify and qualify potential customers • Make frequent, in-person sales calls to current customers and strategic accounts, identifying new project opportunities to further NWPX's position in the marketplace • Make routine visits to job sites to discuss progression and upcoming needs • Offer insight to Regional Sales Engineers on the ability of NWPX to develop distinctive, project/customer specific offerings to further strengthen partnerships • Launch new product lines in assigned geography working closely with the plant leadership team and technical group • Comply with all NWPX policies, procedures and guidelines KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: • Strong influencing skills; ability to drive results and revenue • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers - both internal and external • Customer Focus - Dedicated to meeting requirements of internal and external customers • Problem Solving - Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems with collaborative solutions • Drive for Results - Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully • Be a pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter who is action oriented and drives for results • Possess a positive attitude • Possess a strong work ethic • Knowledgeable in current and future construction and development practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the industry • Builds Effective Teams - Ability to blend people into purposefully organized teams • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications • Must have ability to regularly travel throughout the sales region, some overnights • Must have the drive and self-discipline to work independently within territory to accomplish goals • Foster a collaborative, team-based approach • Be experienced with technical sales to engineers, industry suppliers, contractors and specifying agencies. • Have ability to work with a diverse group of people both within the Company and in a sales capacity • Must be able to present dynamically to large diverse audiences to drive demand for NWPX products EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's Degree in management, construction, related field or equivalent experience • 5-7+ years' experience in outside sales and/or business development role within construction or related industry • Estimator, Bid Development, or Project Manager experience is a plus • Experience within residential and/or commercial real estate development, design, and construction is preferred • Be proficient in basic Microsoft Office software • Proficiency in CRM software, preferably Salesforce is a plus • SAP experience, or a large ERP system, is considered a plus Full list of anticipated physical demands for this position and detail on our work environment are below.
