Nidec Mobility America Corporation(NMOA) is looking for an energetic, focused Customer Quality Supervisor for our St. Charles, IL operations. As a world leader in sensing and control technology, we control the most discrete functions within an automobile – from seat switches, power window switches, and instrument panel controls, towards complex user interfaces. NMOA is directly involved with automotive OEM’s and holds a leadership position within Nidec for product development with global vehicle makers. Customer Quality Supervisor Objective The Customer Quality Supervisor is a working leadership role responsible for ensuring that all automotive electronic products meet and exceed FORD's customer quality standards via a deep understanding of automotive quality systems, and experience with electronic components. This position involves supervising a small team of Quality Engineers and technicians, serving as the primary liaison for customer quality issues, and driving quality standards, product inspection/testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support FORD, as a primary customer. Essential Responsibilities • Customer liaison: Act as the primary contact for customer inquiries and concerns related to product quality (Ford). Prepare and approve customer response letters and reports. • Team leadership: Supervise / Coach / Counsel Customer Quality Engineer team members including planning, setting performance goals, assigning tasks, and facilitating problem-solving efforts using established methodologies like 8D, then monitoring and appraising job results. • Issue containment and resolution: Serve as the first responder to quality issues on the production floor or from customer reports. Develop and implement containment plans to prevent the flow of defective products to customers. • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis for both internal and external quality issues. Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented and documented. • Quality system compliance: Maintain a strong working knowledge of IATF16949, while ensuring compliance with ISO9001/IATF16949 automotive quality standards and customer-specific requirements (CSRs). • Product quality monitoring: Track and analyze quality data from internal inspections, audits, and customer feedback. Present quality metrics, reports, and trends to management. • Establish quality and reliability standards by incorporating product and customer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians and engineers • Ensure testing procedures are accurate to customer requirements. • Establish / Sustain standards for the disposition of finished product by conducting/creating evaluation tests, methods, and procedures • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, recommend and implement cost-effective error-proofing (poka-yoke) strategies, and execute initiatives to improve overall quality. • Documentation and audits: Create and maintain Product Quality Documentation System (Quality manuals and procedures) continually updating QA documents (PFMEA,CP). Support internal and external audits to ensure readiness and compliance. • Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Inform cross functional team of results/trends • Launch readiness support: Support product launch readiness assessments and ensure new programs comply with all quality requirements. • Supplier collaboration: Work with supplier quality and engineering teams to resolve issues related to incoming materials. • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies. • Support / Implement the ISO14001 Environmental Policy as it pertains to work activities. • Provide Quality Support for New Product Launch activities. Education: • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field is highly preferred. High School Degree or Equivalent required. Experience: • 3+ years’ experience in a Quality leadership working supervisor role within a manufacturing environment, supporting FORD. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Automotive industry experience (highly preferred) • Strong working knowledge in IATF 16949 • Strong knowledge of core quality tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA. • Proficiency with measurement equipment and interpreting technical documents like blueprints and GD&T. • Knowledge of IPC 610, AECQ 100, AECQ 200, and standards in Electronic Industry testing • Experience with problem-solving methodologies like 8D. • Working knowledge of AIAG requirements and technical skills/core tools and knowledge of plating, plastic molding, metal stamping and/or welding desired. • Analytical thinking and working knowledge of various problem-solving techniques (i.e. paretos, cause and effect, histograms, Ishikawa diagram, is/is not). • Knowledge of soldering, electronic components and PCB assembly. • Familiarity with the implementation / use of various charts, corrective action programs, simple DOE, and other SPC tools. • Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills. • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). • High attention to detail and accuracy • Excellent written and verbal communication with customers (internal and external) • Quality engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in an automated mass production environment. • Green Belt Six Sigma (preferred) Scope of Supervision: 2+ Quality Engineers Keywords: Automotive, quality, IATF 16949, SPC, IPC, corrective action, warranty, DOE, engineering, soldering, PCB assembly, components, electronics, AIAG Travel Required: up to 15% • * This position is not open to Recruiters **
