Full Description

mx51 is a payments-as-a-service solution for banks, non-bank acquirers, and other merchant service providers. We are building a payment platform that allows merchants to accept payments in-store, in-app and online, whilst consolidating all their data on a real-time business management dashboard. As a Senior Backend Engineer within the mx51 Backend team, you will be instrumental in the delivery of key projects for the business. You will play a vital role in developing our platform utilised by major financial institutions across Australia. In this role, you will: Develop, and maintain high-throughput, fault-tolerant microservices written in Go to support our backend infrastructure Create and optimise RESTful and gRPC APIs, ensuring scalability and performance Implement robust data models and query optimisations for PostgreSQL databases Drive continuous improvement in code quality through code reviews, testing, and refactoring Collaborate with DevOps to containerize applications using Docker and deploy to Kubernetes clusters on AWS Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, recommending and implementing improvements to our tech stack Evaluate and incorporate AI tooling to improve automation, increase quality, and reduce bottlenecks About You Technical Leadership - Provide technical direction and influence product decision through sound architectural judgement Communication - Articulate technical concepts clearly in both written and verbal form when interacting with your team and stakeholders across the business. Problem Solving - Approach complex technical challenges with curiosity and a systematic mindset, seeking to understand root causes before implementing solutions Expertise - Passion for software engineering craft and in particular back end development. You will have significantly contributed to the engineering of production-grade microservices. Adaptability - Respond quickly to changing business priorities and working conditions.
