Full Description

Morgan Latif is a specialist leadership search & development consultancy. We help our clients across the Medical & Dental Technology, Packaging, Consumer, E-mobility, and Industrial Technology sectors to deliver on their transformation and diversity goals. Our mission is to combine traditional recruitment and coaching methods with new technology to provide a tailored and innovative solution to our clients and candidates. Head of Reimbursement / Market Access (Medical Device – Ophthalmology) A fast-growing ophthalmic medical device company is seeking a Head of Reimbursement / Market Access to build and lead its U.S. reimbursement function. This is a senior, high-impact role shaping the company’s commercial strategy as it scales nationally. About the Company They are an innovative surgical ophthalmology company developing next-generation technology for the treatment of chronic eye disease. As they move into commercial expansion, they’re building the core teams that will drive market access, reimbursement, and field support. Joining them means helping lay the foundation of a company poised to become a leader in ophthalmic innovation. The Role We’re looking for a senior reimbursement leader to establish and own our coding, coverage, and payment strategy. You will be the company’s first in-house expert in this area and a key member of the leadership team. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution - especially early on - while building out a small team, not initially but over time. What You’ll Do • Develop and lead the national reimbursement and coding strategy. • Oversee CPT code planning and coverage pathways. • Guide communication of reimbursement strategy to leadership and the board. • Act as the primary internal expert for surgeons, practices, and field teams. • Support customer calls, emails, and field visits, particularly during early commercialization. • Build strong relationships with payers, MACs, professional societies, and industry influencers. • Represent the company’s reimbursement strategy externally. • Partner closely with Sales, Clinical, Marketing, and Executive Leadership. • Ensure strong alignment across commercial, clinical, and market access initiatives. • Create the reimbursement function from the ground up. • Develop processes, tools, and future team structure. • Hire and manage reimbursement specialists as the company grows. What We’re Looking For Required • 8+ years in U.S. medical device reimbursement (ideally ophthalmology or surgical). • Leadership experience as a Head/VP of Reimbursement or senior Market Access leader. • Strong relationships with societies, payers, MACs, and key decision-makers. • Deep understanding of CPT coding strategy and coverage pathways. • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels. • National travel (up to 50%). • Experience in early-stage or high-growth med-device companies. • Background with new surgical procedures, emerging codes, or MIGS technologies. • Strong knowledge of payer landscapes and advocacy processes. Personal Traits • Builder mindset - comfortable creating structure from scratch. • Strong communicator with executive presence. • Collaborative, practical, and relationship-driven. Why Join • Build a critical function from day one. • High visibility with executive leadership and the board. • Direct influence on commercial success and market adoption. • Opportunity to help shape the future of ophthalmic surgery. We look forward to receiving your application!
