Full Description

As a Lead Editor, you will play a key role in strategy and execution of higher-level editorial projects to drive performance of audience growth both on GOBankingRates, Moneylion and on publisher partner sites, scaling our editorial content and expanding audience engagement. As part of the editorial team, you will also lead the development of data-driven and optimized articles that resonate with both readers and publishing partners. You will report to the Director of Content within the Editorial team and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in product, design, and SEO. As an editor, you will be deeply passionate about editorial operations, journalism best practices, and making data-driven editorial decisions. With a growth mindset, you'll be instrumental in expanding our reach by developing content that's optimized to rank highly in search results and resonate with our publishing partners' algorithms. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in content creation and digital media, along with a deep understanding of personal finance and the topics that drive audience interest. You will be skilled at analyzing data to identify new content opportunities and eager to experiment with cutting-edge tools like AI to enhance efficiencies. A positive attitude, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for content creation are essential. Ideally, you will be proactive, detail-oriented, and have exceptional editing and fact-checking skills. You should be motivated by ambitious goals and driven to achieve them. The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $95,000k and 105,000K. Base salary is one component of Gen's total compensation package, which includes 401(k) match, health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role. Please note that we are only considering candidates that are in a commutable distance to our NYC office. This role requires you to be in the office 50% of the time. Objectives: This role involves overseeing content quality and production at a high-level to drive performance of audience growth both on GOBankingRates, Moneylion and on publisher partner sites. This role also involves: • Assign, fact-check, edit, copy edit and publish 7-8 pieces of content daily while handling any additional required tasks throughout the production process. • Identify opportunities to optimize article linking strategy, including updating our high priority linking document. • Own multiple high-priority initiatives, tentpoles and series, including the overall content blueprint and the production of the landing pages; see the process through from brainstorm to execution. • Serve as team point of contact for overall quality, which includes an emphasis on headline optimization and communication with the full team on quality-focused updates. • Handle freelance management and oversight as needed. • Submit and get approval on 20 blueprint titles per week. • Other duties as assigned. • Editors in this role should be ready to adjust their responsibilities to meet team needs. Competencies: • At least 7 years of editorial experience at a national or global online publication • High-level editorial judgment and strategic thinking. • Attention to detail and organization, with strong time management and communication skills • Advanced project management and leadership capabilities • Knowledge of digital media best practices and industry trends and experience implementing them in content pieces and plans • Expertise in digital tools, analytics, and audience engagement • Experience using analytics tools to make editorial decisions • Knowledge of digital media best practices and industry trends and experience implementing them in content pieces and plans
